Careful with this one. They may get the last laugh if there is oncoming radar. Although I know the feeling of leaving them in the dust, they will persist and eventually catch back up.

But I do collect speeding tickets. This is about half of them since 1980. All but two for speeding Image Unavailable, Please Login

I have had people tail-gate and cut in front of me. I live in a fairly prosperous region namely Silicon Valley and you would think people couldn't care less about a Rossa Corsa F430. I had a late start on a Sunday and the car was still on the freeway at around 9:30am; so instead of 5 cars there were about 30 on 280. Normally I take the car out around 6:30am and have a wonderful drive for 1-2 hrs and am back home before most people are awake.
It is a mistake to out run the individual as that is exactly what they are looking for. What I do is change lanes and get out of their way. The other thing to do is if you see a bunch of cars AVOID them and speed past them if possible. Off course this approach gifted me a speeding ticket one time.

But folks let step back, you are driving a Ferrari, a legendary brand and builder of amazing cars(till now), what do you expect? :)

Looks like your radar detector and Wayze have been quite helpful lol. You gotta be on a first name basis with the Police and the Judges... I think you need a "fixer" They might be your next best friend.

I think you bring up a good point. I had no expectations of other folks reaction to the car. Ive been around and driven them mostly at track days and events so really had no expectations of what it was like to own one in the "real world" I guess i assumed it would be no different than my 911s or E type but hadnt given it much thought.

I could teach traffic school. Only used a fixer twice. A lot of them were in the 80s before CHP used radar. The worst was 6 in one year. Luckily they were in 6 different counties and no computers linking them. I went to traffic school in each county and they never showed on my record

I think a crucial part to how over the top some of the reactions we receive in our Ferraris is the growing divide between how people wish their lives are vs how it actually is. Most people are not working the jobs they want, are not driving the cars they want, do not have the respect from their peers they want, put all that together and they are not living the lives they want. The universe is not kind to people that are not assertive, and do not take risk. There are few louder symbols of a person that lives on his own terms and takes risk than buying a Ferrari

We live in a world were fake news is everywhere, social media can make someone making 30k pretend like they make 3 Million, and many people blame everything and everyone for their problems except them-selves. To look over and see a man happily driving the fruits of his labor can be a lot to stomach, since there are few things more painful than a man living with broken dreams...

I kept the magazine editorial of the first road test of the Ferrari 360 back in 1999. It was a great feeling taking that framed article to the dealership when I bought my Ferrari home. Of course the color of the car in that magazine and the one I bought have some similarities Image Unavailable, Please Login :)

    Great story!!!!

Also, exceptionally well stated. I'm just finishing up reading Fountainhead, and sounds like something that could have been taken from the book.

My favorite way to deal with tailgaters. Not worth getting a ticket blasting them in the straights but simply maintaining my speed into a bend and have them quickly drop behind

Only happens on main roads though, backroads there's nothing behind me...

I live in central NH - sometimes I get somebody pacing me, etc., but haven't ever had an actual tailgater riding my ass. Mostly I get left alone other than a thumbs up here and there.

Here in Cali, I mostly get Teslas wanting to race me on the freeway. I usually bait them and then they fall back after a few miles because their battery is running low and they need to reach their destination.

When I was in university I got 3 imprudent driving tickets all at one stop, "a ticket for each of the last three corners you guys went around". The cop had happened upon a little road race between me (Fiat X1/9) and three friends (modified Fiat 128, Triumph tr250, Triumph TR4A with a 2 liter Pinto engine transplanted into it). The drivers license points from those tickets were enough to send our licenses into Probationary status and mandatory attendance of High Performance Driving School...which we were disappointed to find was only classroom safety instruction and not open track time!

Has anyone had this occur.....you are stopped at a red light, in a major city, and some guy runs over your hood on foot. Apparently this is a thing.

Apparently they do this because they know a Ferrari owner will not abandon his car and chase someone down the street.
