No news apparent on either issue. LH faces the legal rules in both Bahrain and UAE for exit and entry.
Bottas has a contract until he doesnt lol :)

I believe he has to test negative by tomorrow at the latest. Even then Bahrain would have to authorize his departure, and UAE would have to permit his entry to the country plus entry to the Biosphere. I wouldn't bet on it.

The good thing for Russell is that usually, after you've driven a really fast car, you can drive a slow car faster than you did before. Like when Nigel went to Indy cars. The reverse was Andretti coming from Indy cars to F1. If Russell is back in a Williams this weekend, he might find himself driving it better than he did before.

  12. Is that how it works?

'Major problem with your two examples are you're making your comparison switching 'twixt two different venues; not different quality cars in the same......

On top of which, neither were even as good as they were before when they returned to their original series...... ;)

Everybody on here who comments that with Lewis back, there is no reason to watch the race basically confirms that he is the best.

Bollocks. Bahrain confirmed that the Mercedes is the best regardless of the driver.

Bahrain the Mercedes finished 9th witbout Lewis behind the wheel. History books will show that if you want the win its best to have Lewis to bring it home and make it count.

Lewis would have won that race, first he would have outqualified Bottas, then would have made the right pit calls, probably would have been more cautious around debris too.

Toto said on global TV that the double stack pit-stop was and I quote: "A colossal f***-up"

Even with Lewis behind the wheel, it wouldn't have made a difference.

It was later realized a communication error was the issue which has been fixed.

I found what I said to be true in all racing, across the board, when driving on the same type of track. When you drive a truly fast car (assuming you know hat you are doing), and you then get into a slower car...of any kind...you will have obtained a higher sense of being at the limits, and that allows you more confidence in pushing the slower car you are in, to its limits. My exceptions are when you totally change the type of racing...such as F1 to WRC or Indy car to off-road or LeMans to drag racing. But going from F1 to Indycar, that driver will have an advantage. While going from Indycar to F1, the reverse happens.

I hear an Indycar is harder to drive than an F1 car. Indycar has no power steering not as planted. Marcus Ericson said in the Indycar he is busier than ever always having to be on top of it. Plus most tracks they run on are bumpy, different tarmac mix on some tracks, not state of the art tracks as F1.

Twenty years ago I was an one of them.

Today I do not deny anything but time has allowed me to see things and appreciate them from different angles. Admiration without questioning provides no satisfaction.

I was too a Schumi fan and rooted for him. Still is somewhat a fan, just not my favorite.
