That engine looks very nice. What was the reason for applying new Nikasil on the liners? I have a 83QV in the garage and had no noticeable liner wear when I opened up the engine for inspection.

The previous owner started a timing belt replacement (I presume), tore the top of the motor apart and then the car sat in this condition for about 15 years or so. When I got the car to my shop, the first thing I did was perform a compression test. It had 0 compression in #7. Tear down revealed part of a 6mm wave washer holding a valve open. There was just enough damage to the cylinder wall that I choose to go with a set of .050 over pistons.

I like your shop floor tiles.
Also, what’s the other engine? I’m looking on my phone, so small image, but I can see it’s a pushrod, non-cross flow motor ... Austin Healey?

Yes, the other motor is a big Healey that I am restoring for a customer.
The floor tiles are actually painted on the floor. I simply made a grid of 4' x 4' squares across the shop and "made" large tiles.
Just got my interior parts back from the upholsterer.
    Cheers,
    Richard
