Yup, unauthorized photo session got a lot of folks in serious trouble. Effectively completed killing the F-108 program, too.

I think that this photo was taken just before the F-104 was pulled into the tip vortex of the Valkyrie. Looks like there is condensation vapor over the wing of the Valkyrie, also.

T- Yup, the F-108 and the B-70 shared engine and other technologies. The F-108 was huge for a fighter and was really a pure interceptor.

I think that this might be the replica of the Hughes "Time Flies". It had catastrophic engine failure over Yellowstone National Park with a fatal result if I remember. It was powered by the small 14 cylinder 700HP P&W that came apart.

Just a note to add, that airplane had a wooden wing, hence the blue paint.

Always fun to fly into Santa Catalina. Telluride very similar visually, but way different operationally.

Three newly delivered Fokker Dr.I Triplanes still in factory paint jobs with streaked olive paint and light blue undersides "returned" on fuselage bottom and horizontal stabilizer. The center one is Dr.I 474/17, WN 2100. One of only 320 Triplanes Fokker delivered in WW-I. Amazing how much press and photos that small number of aircraft generated.

    I'm surprised that I don't see a Swift here.
This is mine just after restoration, on the cover of Trade-A-Plane.

Fantastic. So it has the metal 'grille' on the front?

Nope. Appears to be a 145 Cont. Three exhaust stacks.

Was there a purpose...ie, monitor panel alignment, etc...for the paint job, or was it just for the heck of it?

Not a glamorous picture, but to me there is something lovely about the intense and genuine patina... Hellenic AF Chance Vought A-7 two seater...

Looks like they threw some extra grease and dirt on it "to protect it" :)
