I drive FF...love it. What I like most: - Pano Roof - Daimond Cut wheels - NO leds/NO carbon - Pano Roof - Pano Roof - Vented seats - Shields My car has a lifter, I have no clue how it works, never used it. Same for ApplePlay But...get the stuff YOU like...its your car, make it fit your personality and feel good in it! Have fun!
Thank you to everyone for your help! I looked, drove, considered, and found the best Lusso for me. A few notes: V12 and V8 back-to-back drives led me to slightly prefer the V8. The 12 sings at full throttle/8000 RPM, which is the heart and soul of test-drive material. It’s an awesome engine, and certainly some thing to love. However, the V8 has oodles of torque across the rev range and bursts to life vividly and quickly. Unlike other excellent turbo V8’s (like MB’s 5.5L), it breathes easily up high as well, and, although it doesn’t omit the big bore wail of the V12, the V8 will rocket right up to the 7500 RPM red line. More importantly, full-time redline driving is not what any of us do in real-world Lusso driving toting our kids around and such. In a straight line, I’ll contend that the V8 is more fun from 20 to 80 mph, since it’s so immediate in the first part of that run up. However, the overall hot pedal prowess and aural competition go to the 12, and the V12 has significant traditional Ferrari GT merits. What is less debatable is where I personally have more fun with my real life cars, which is the turns/on-ramps/short burst on a curve. Here the V8 shines. It moves 120 pounds away from the worst part of a car (over the nose) and shifts the weight rearward. What’s remarkable, in the back to back drive, this is actually quite palpable. The steering is better without all the all wheel drive parts, turn it is sharper, and with all that grunt from the turbos you can really flick around this big GT. For me, the V8 is the better real-life Lusso. I found a color that I really love. My last daily driven Ferrari was a 360 Modena six-speed which I sold in 2015. It was Grigio Alloy, which is such a beautiful color. Evidently it’s very rare on the Lussos, but I found one in GA over Cuoio Diamond Stitch. It’s so beautiful, and I have a soft spot for the colors. I actually haven’t seen another Grigio Alloy Lusso or Lusso T. Lots of Silverstone and Titanio, but no Alloy. The 4 “big” options I wanted - selected with your help! - were Panorama, Hi-Fi, Vent Seats, and Lifter. This one has 3/4, giving up only the lifter but gaining the Front Camera, which, for me, is a “nice-to-have.” Additional value-adds are that the car is relatively local, only a year into its warranty and maintenance, and only has 2700 miles. Pickup is December 19th, after PPF application on the leading surfaces. Thank you for all of your help! Off to find a Lusso-friendly booster seat. I’m thrilled to have a new family car. Congratulations!! My take is the lifter on this car is really good to set aside your worries, but in real daily life, I almost never use it. I measured under my car for the lowest point, and the lowest area is 5.75 inches off the ground. With lifter engaged add 2 inches. The car lifts both ends because its so long. The thing with the lifter is you don’t need it...until you do. Had to move to a rental house for a few months this year and car would have scraped on the driveway every time without. Now that I’m back home, I’ve used it once in 3 months. I will say one potential advantage to it is you can add Novitec springs and still have ample clearance, which I’m debating. I do think it improves the look of the car. But for the options/spec you found, I’d happily give up the lift. Congrats. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thanks for sharing, and you will love the T. I am in love with my mine, and pile on the miles with no worry about depreciation.
There’s so much hating on the Lusso T and for the purest I get the lack of 12 cylinders is a big deal. The design is polarizing as well although many who dislike it don’t appreciate the shooting brake history. I can say that having a full back seat for year round driving with kids (and not having to put all cars away in the winter) is huge. And no matter what, the T is just more fun to drive in my view. I spent a lot time time in both the 8 and 12 and I just found the 8 more fun around town at low speeds (again kids the back). I have snows on mine - zero issues in the blizzard we just had - and just a blast. Definitely respect the 12 and AWD and understand why some prefer it - they are both amazing cars . . . but some of us just love the lighter, nimbler 8s.
100% I can imagine why some feel that the T is more fun to drive, and I completely understand why. If it's your primary or only Ferrari, then the choice is tough, IMHO. V8 Perspective: Way more "Ferrari-like" in acceleration, with the magical lagless turbo that was introduced in the 488 GTB. Every time I get in the Pista, that V8 makes me smile ear to ear. The one area that it struggles a little is the sound department. If you head over to the 458/488/F8 sub-forum, you'll see lengthy posts about this topic. I've spent [read: lost] nearly $20k in aftermarket parts and labor to try to find the right sound, and I'm back to stock for various reasons. Choosing the Lusso T means the fun factor comes from the butt dyno feels moreso than the aural Ferrari experience. That said, I seems the longer exhaust piping on the Lusso T V8 in comparison to the 488/F8 platform allows for more audio tuning options. V12 Perspective: Enzo-based V12. 6.3L. 600+ HP. It is 100% Ferrari from the high revving power to the wonderful sounds it makes. That said, while the engine is this huge V12, it reminds me a lot of my S2000 from nearly 2 decades ago -- you need to be in the right gear. The combination of ridiculous levels of gasoline consumption and the lack of low end torque mean that the instantaneous power of the V12 only comes to life if you are planning when you need it. As I'm positive that most V12 Lusso owners will tell you, nobody cruises too long at 4-5k RPM because you'll literally run out of gas. Anyway, hope that sheds some light as to why both answers can be right.
I drove 250 miles today in my FF with cruise set between 85-95 mph. I didn't even use a full tank of gas. Did several miles over 100 Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
I think he is referring to the gear u are in. I too get decent-ish mileage in it but not in spirited driving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Lusso T is only 50kg lighter than the V12 which isn’t really noticeable in the real world. And it’s not clear why the T is perceived to be nimbler as it doesn’t have 4RM and its weight distribution is 46:54 vs the V12’s 48:52 which should place it at a disadvantage to the V12.
Dunno why I felt it - dealer thought I was crazy - maybe the RWD plus 4WS at low speeds I suspect - I’m not a fast driver
Can someone with CarPlay tell me if it displays in full screen? My dealer just installed the Ferrari-supplied aftermarket kit and it works perfectly but not in full screen. Is this normal? Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is normal. It would seem Ferrari wants you to have the temp info always present and also the tabs for the other screens on the edges. I always thought this thoughtful, but I can see how someone would like to have the full screen. It would be nice to have the option for the full screen, but I dont think theres any way to do it. Congrats! You will love it….. I shared your impressions but after my FF I had to have the 12. As mentioned after the PS comes ( wife probably) I’m thinking about FF vs T. We will see prices at that time. Great color- great car Drive it well
It looks identical to my car which has it from factory. I really enjoy this feature, I think it provides a bit of "future proofing". The Lusso is a wonderful machine, enjoy!
I would love to have fullscreen for CarPlay as well. It's a real pain to have only the small display. I have fullscreen on my BMW and it makes a huge difference. It's probably very easy as well for whoever coded CarPlay at Ferrari to get it to display in fullscreen...
