360 wasn’t sold until 1999 mate. LDM didn’t want to start fresh due to financial constraints, but they pulled it off and people bought. 348 is about as close to a 355 as a 360 is to a Scud :).

Side effects of Vegemite are real :).

Your right but they started working on it in 1993. Its a much larger project to design an all new car as opposed to revamping and existng one

I think for ugliest production car my peronal pick would be the Ferarri GG50. Together with the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and the 456 they make a fine trio

Ok, better put on my flame suit here. Speaking strictly about production cars, not one-offs or coach built oddities.

I thought the 348 was a disaster when it came out from a styling perspective. I thought it looked like the Japanese cars of the day that had been copying Ferrari for years. Especially as a replacement to the 3x8 line which is one of the most classic styles of all time. I thought the interior styling was just as off. I bought my first Ferrari around '93. Instead of buying a new 348 I sought out a low mileage 328 and was happy that someone stashed one away for me with only 900 miles on it. The seller had bought it new at the height of the frenzy for $140,000. I bought it and I drove it.

Anyway, the 348 has aged a little better than I expected, and the FF and all station wagon Ferraris are a disaster from any angle.

    How can this:

    P.S.
Luca sold out the marque and made it a brand, no matter how many great cars he made, including the 355, the 360, and the 550. It all started with the selling of the shields and went downhill from there.

But I guess that is for another thread.

308 GT4 ......really........this car has finally come of age. Kinda like the 250PF coupe.......an undesirable Ferrari. Time tells it all.

I think that happned more after Montezemolo left and FIAT took more direct control. Montezemolo was an Enzo protégée who, I think, shared much the same passion for the marque as Enzo, all be it he was allot more business orientated (ie selling of the shields). Now I see Ferrari going down the path of Porche more and more as time passes.

If the rumours I heard at our last recent Christmas function are true then this demise will reach its climax as we look to a future with a Ferrari SUV and the SF90 touted to be the last production V8 Ferrari will produce as they move to a new Hybrid V6 (aka F1) as their next standard power plant.

Then the metamorphosis will be complete.

The sweater did his best to destroy the brand thru his ego and incompetence, not LdM.

The sweater promised Elkann to make him much much wealthier (by going public), LdM didn't agree to all that . Seeing the $$$$$$$$ on his table Elkann agreed that the sweater would "let go LdM".

It always makes me smile when somebody says the following.

    • 308/328/Mondial looks like a Fiero/MR2
    • 365/400/412 looks like a Prelude
    • Daytona looks like a C4 Vette.
It's nice to know Ferrari has a time machine to 'steal' designs. Yes - imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery.

It's like saying you don't like how Marilyn Monroe looks because she looks too much like [redacted].

While I agree with the list, I reiterate that coachbuilders' customs and one-offs really shouldn't count, in my opinion. The reason being while it may have been sanctioned or approved, it's still somebody else's interpretation of what a Ferrari should look like, not Maranello.

Leave the dead-in-dodgy-circumstances models out of this @paulchua....let's keep it classy.
