Can anyone give me any advice on where this actually is in the footwell!? I suspect mine is playing up, and have a new one to fit. But the part diagram isn't clear where it is, and having a good poke around I can't find it either - any ideas? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Should be on left side in footwell, upside behind the panel. At least on a -97 it was On our car the earth pin had broken off from the soldering. Easy fix.
If it helps, mine is a RHD UK car, so I appreciate I'm looking at the parts diagram in reverse - but I still can't find it! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
My wipers played up again at the weekend, I have a feeling it may be water ingress in the direction of the relay (which I still can't find...) Anyone able to help, maybe a diagram or photo of the location of this part?
My wipers are also not working right. Sometimes it works right away, but most of the times I have to switch to warp speed and then back again to normal speed or interval. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. I found out it is the handle on the steering column that is not OK. Fuse is still OK. Handle is still available. The fuse for the wipers is the 4th from the left (20A). That is in my EU spec. 550. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sounds like exactly the symptoms I have! The fuse is on the same circuit as the fuel flap, so I know it's fine. I get the impression that as the car gets wetter, the wipers work less hence my thoughts it was the relay. The washers always work, even if the wipers don't Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
i have this issue - dodgy wipers, cannot find the relay...... RHD car. Any tips ? Or does Qavion have one of his useful wiring diagrams ? many thanks
550? Sorry, I don't know where it is. On a RHD car, it could be anywhere. Judging by the online parts manuals, it's under the dash somewhere (part 11). i.e. if you mean the control module. There is no regular relay. https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/550-maranello/electrical-ignition/electrical-boards-19911 Since most of the wiring is mirrored on a RHD car, I would check under the dash on the driver's side.
if it helps someone, I found it today. I traced the wires back from the motor in the engine bay, and realised it must be inside the cover next to the gas pedal on a RHD car. I got the cover off (which was a pain due to a seized lower screw and me not realising it was held on at the back by the 2 screws in the metal plate) and worked out which bit it is due to the colour of the wires. As luck would have it, thats as far as I got as the wipers worked perfectly today, but at least locating it will assist with future diagnostics......
Thanks for the confirmation, Matt. I don't have a RHD wiring diagram, but I'll add a note about location to the USA diagram. https://www.dropbox.com/t/um8BLCb4k871ZpFN (See "92") (EDIT: disregard... The parts manual shows a horizontal mounting for the USA cars, so I suspect it is not near the ECU. I'll have to re-edit the diagram).
if it helps further the harness in the engine bay joins onto a much thicker loom when then all goes through the bulkhead and into the footwell. There's quite a few other components down there - let me know anything else you want me to check while it is all apart.....
If you could get a picture of it in location, that would be great. It would be an aide-mémoire (at least for me) should someone ask this question again.
here you go - its the larger of the two black modules - the one without the big "BOSCH" on the top, right under the purple wires.... Image Unavailable, Please Login 20201230_150240 by MattH3764, on Flickr
Excellent photo, thanks. Now I have to do some sleuthing to figure out what that mysterious white plug is with the purple-black and green-black jumper wires on it. And the Bosch relay.
I think I've figured it out. The Bosch relay may be the starter relay (controlled by the immobiliser). This has some white, grey and black wires on it, one of which goes to, I suspect, that mysterious white jumper plug (which is connected to the immobiliser). The plug is numbered "324" in the wiring diagrams. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words
Added some notes to my 550 Alarm wiring diagram regarding the starter relay and jumper plug on RHD cars... https://www.dropbox.com/t/n0mO1PczWP4lfjWa Link expires in 6 days
