Besides the fact that this car is an awesome example of a well equipped 550.
Every 550 definitely needs 575 wheels... those 550 wheels look like FIAT wheels

Going back to your original post, why did you choose a 550 as your first Ferrari? Or were you looking at several models, and this one was the best option?

 

Wow, you even got matching clouds in that one picture!! All dark and ominous looking....

I am thinking a 550 would be a great purchase. So anything you tell me about this model, why you like it, why its unique, etc, will help me in the process.

I'm not the owner, but I can tell you that the 550 is a fantastic car. The engine is more towards torque than hp, in fact you could easily keep 2nd most of the time(but I suggest using 1st when necessary, don't put too much pressure on the engine). The V12 was a revised version of the one in the 456, with longer service intervals(but still 1 every year if "used"). Some people complain the lack of noise, but remember that this was a gentleman car, if you wanted to be loud, go for a 355. The gearbox is magnificent, the last model equipped with the manual only. Probably the biggest issue has to to with tyres, they tend to worn out quite quickly. But it's a fantastic car overall.

Quite a few differences between the Type F116 456 engines and the 550 (and later models) Type F133 engines, like hydraulic lifters, dual length intake tract for more hp at high rpm, etc.

what a super 550.

You may not be aware that the options list you have makes it very rare indeed.

I’ve only seen another 2 or 3 with these full options. (One belongs to Ferrari, one is in Sweden and the other The Uk).

They are listed by the Ferrari Carrozzeria Scaglietti brochure as Michael Schumacher Option cars.

Yours is a late version (1999) - but certainly looks like the real deal !

I’ve been searching for full option cars for years.

my first post on "my first Ferrari" - a childhood dream that becomes reality - as you can see, a 550 Maranello with pretty amazing specs and low miles. Build in October 1999 it has had 2 previous owners that did really take car about this beauty. I was tremendously lucky - it was on the market for just 24h ! At least here in Europe, it`s pretty much impossible to find a similar one with those specs.

- Carbon interior
- Racing seats
- 4 Point Harness
- Fire extinguisher
- Roll Bar
- Diamond pattern headliner and rear shelf
- Fiorano package
- Ferrari shields

last but not least....Luggage set. I have done some quick and dirty pictures as well - better ones to follow.

I think your car is a very unique car indeed and rare too.

 

Yours is a late car but ..... only the 4th I’ve seen with full Carrozzeria Scaglietti options from Ferrari’s Schumacher brochure.

Just in case you don’t have them.

These are the 2 catalogues that would have been with your car.

They list the Schumacher Options.

The thin one is the normal catalogue and I believe the large one with the binders was the dealers copy.

It’s from these fully optioned earlier Schumacher cars they decided to build the 33 WSR cars. (Except the WSR cars didn’t have the Fiorano package, like ours just red colour callipers.... I think).

The smaller catalogue was made in 2 versions. One English - German and the other Italian - French.
