Is Ferrari fit and finish worst than Lamborghini? Comparing Italians.... German is expected to be better I got more rattles and other noises than my previous super cars by far....
Lambo in my experience is very good. My Pista is pretty tight although there were a couple small things that the dealer sorted. All of my Porsches have been spot on.
Ferrari is very messy with the application of body sealant. You would think that in a circa half a million dollar car (Pista) there would be more pride. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After owning 5 Lamborghinis and driving 4 others for many days in the last 5 years, not one had any cosmetic issues or functional problems. My F8 was cosmetically without issue. But there were some rattles and resonances that were apparent from the middle dash when going over bumpy roads. Most disturbing and highly annoying was a knocking sound coming from the lower front left driver side, when coming to a stop and again when accelerating. It would last a second but always would occur. The dealer checked it concluding that the knock sound was coming from the ABS and it was perfectly normal and endemic to all 488 models. Owners of 488 do not agree. After owing a dozen Porsches over 2 decades, a couple had paint issues that were more than simple paint correction could solve. Turbo coupe had a suspension collapse necessitated a $10K repair. C2S cab had the roof motor seize requiring the motor and convertible frame to be replaced. The same car needed a new clutch. Radio needed to be replaced on C2 cab. The others were essential problem free.
I’ve had just about every brand of exotic (except Lambo). I would say that Porsche makes the best built car. They are meant to be driven hard, every day, no problem. To me, a Ferrari is a beautiful work of art that doubles as an amazing car. Yes, they have weird little issues here and there. A small price to pay for the satisfaction of owning one. I would say that a Lambo is no exception. I’ve seen really well built ones such as the Performante and SVJ and then all others, which I wasn’t too impressed. Frankly speaking, I think everything Italian is beautiful, full of passion, yet quirky sometimes. At least that’s the way I like to describe my Italian ex-girlfriend. Are you comparing with Lambos released since being acquired by Audi? The Huracan shares the chassis, engine, transmission and electronics with an R8. All the V10’s are assembled at the VW plant in Hungary. Overall, they should be at Audi levels of quality and bulletproof.
When people ask me about buying a Porsche vs. Ferrari, here is how I usually explain it: A Porsche is like a German house keeper. Does the job, cleans the house, everything is folded and put away perfectly. Never any issues; always on time. Owning a Ferrari is a lot more like dating a super model or a hot French or Italian woman - moody, rarely does the dishes, leaves her thongs all over the house, you never know what the heck she's up to.. but OMG does she look stunning in a garter belt, stockings and high heels and nothing else makes your heart race like she does when you see her. That's sort of what it's like owning a Ferrari. Sure there are a few issues here and there, but it's worth it - and far more exciting than your German maid will ever be... Ray
Bravo and well said! I've owned many a Porsche and still own one, as you see here. A Porsche and a Ferrari are built for different purposes, each of with they have nailed! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They are about the same. The F8 is as tight as anything. My dd 488 is fine after nearly 40k. Some have issues, some don't. From those I know that run lambos and my own experience is this. Don't for one second think you're buying an Audi, you're not. You are buying an Italian sports car and those are flawed in some ways. If anything Lambo paint is better, but that's about it. Interior I find is not only of a better quality with Ferrari, the room and ergonomics are lightyears better. I don't understand how anyone can live with the Lambo cabins if they are above 170 and 70 kg. Ferrari is the real drivers car any time every time. LOL. Ladies and gentleman. Or maybe only gentleman... The only way Ray could possibly explain something in which nearly everybody, if not everybody would understand and also agree!!! The Italian hotness. May not be as good but she is HOT and who cares!
