i have P6 cams and 10.2 compression, 44 dcnf carbs and Euro headers. I can tell you this 308 outruns most 348s and 355s.
hmmm, since you do not know my car, and I do. Since I have encountered 348s and 355s, I think I have the upper hand at knowing. Don't you think,.....mate?
Aside from cams and borgo high comp pistons from the queen mother engine, I had heard the jetting was the only carburetor alteration with 'sprint pack' engines. I *think* the sprint pack cams were actually early Dino cams and NOT P6 cams. This would make much more sense as P6 cams are just absurd to run on the street, I tried and tried to get a high comp engine to run with P6 cams on the road but regardless of jetting options and emulsion tube swaps that engine was still an on/off switch. Those I have spoken with in the UK who have driven cars with the sprint pack have both stated the cars were perfectly streetable. The early Dino cam is sort of between a P6 and the early Euro 308 cams so it makes sense. That all said, I agree with the previous poster, if you're going to go with hotter cams and you have bumped the compression, a modern cam, such as that from Cat Cams is a great option. P6 cams are a total waste and early Dino lobed 308 cams are a bit of a unicorn and not that great compared to modern stuff anyway.
