Hi,all what's the feelings about warming up a 2013 458. Is it necessary? I have 3 older Ferraris and find this is really a must, even if just for a few minutes. I am asking for my buddy who has one, I do not. Thanks.

All modern cars should be started and idle for a couple of mins at most and then drive gingerly until oil temp is up to 175f and then do want you want

My version of warming up is starting the car, letting it idle just long enough to have the bluetooth audio kick in and then driving in Auto until the oil temperature is at running temp. After that its Race Mode and manual.

V35 has the right approach. Warm it up for 30 seconds or so, then take it easy for the first 5 or 6 miles, until the gear oil comes up to temp. There's also a screen, as I recall, which will show you when everything is up to temp and ready to roll.

I just keep the RPMs down until the VDA shows the engine as green. Then you've got the sweet spot of a green engine and blue tires, mega fun.

458 sometimes has a strange rough idle and error message on start up. Just take it easy for the first little bit. Letting it sit idling is not recommended .

My routine is idle for 30-60 sec then keep revs < 4000rpm until OIL temp > 150F.

You might want to check the exhaust valve system if you are noticing a rough cold start-up idle. Easy to detect with diagnostic. Recently experienced this, and didn’t see any error messages. Was informed about it by two different mechanics and then decided to get it fixed.
Of course there are other causes for a rough idle on cold start.
