What Ferrari should do for the US market, would be to have a retractable or removable windscreen, this is no different that riding a naked motorcycle.

    Thank you

    What exactly wouldn’t pass?

As a previous owner of an Ariel Atom 2 and an MGTD, and a current owner of a Pur Sang Bugatti 35B, I agree with the article. Above 60 mph or 100kph you need goggles, if not a full helmet. And that’s no fun.

Oddly, the oldest design, the Bugatti 35B, has the best and most minimal wind deflection.

In Massachusetts the vehicle must have a windshield.

An Ariel Atom is not street legal in this state. There is a sneaky work around. If you have a dealer plate you can drive it on the street.

Doesn't the Monza have a very small windshield? Similar to an F1 car. The SP2 passenger side definitely does. That doesn't meet the requirement? How is it any different from a motorcycle? They have small windshields that don't do much unless you're going high speeds and hunkering down...which isn't legal on streets to go that fast to need to ride that way. Edit: just looked at photos and the driver side Monza has a windshield albeit small.

Motorcycles don't have to have a windshield, but eye protection is required.

The Monza SP2 is an interesting question. In MA you not only need a windshield, but it is also supposed to have wipers and a washer. I wonder if they are legal in this state. o_O

Wait till they take a bug to the face at triple digit speed, or a rock kicked up by a truck. How many times have you been driving down the road to then hear *CRACK* as a rock blows a piece of glass out of your windshield. Take one of those to the face and you won't think a windshield-less car is so great.

Why is it no fun ?
Do people that ride motorcycles with helmets have no fun ?
Do Formula car racers that wear helmets have no fun ?

    To each his own.

A helmet seriously reduces your ability to see and hear everything around you, along with squashing your ability to communicate with your passenger. That’s why I think it’s no fun in a two-seat car.

I said nothing about motorcycles or open wheel race cars.

If you're just yelling over the wind, any discussion with your passenger is impaired anyway.

If you're wearing a helmet, spend the few extra bucks for a set of rally style com tethers.

I’d rather they kill the paddle shifting automatics and the nanny traction controls.

But, that’s my opinion. Let people buy what they want and sellers sell what the market will bear.

When the F1 first came out they couldn't give the manuals away. There has been a nostalgic resurgence for manuals, but the sellers are making what the buyers want.

Agreed. Plus I can't tell you how many of these guys in 488a 720s etc... Would be in a tree without the traction control. I'm sorry guys but 700 hp.cars with slicks that are cold is a great way to crash and how many people think to warm their tires before pushing it.

You should ride in a 32 coupe with quick change and blower at 70 mph. Can't hear on a cell phone, and talk loud to passenger. Mostly wind noise!

wait for a tiny rock that will function as a bullet straight to the brain. no helmet can prevent that.
