Quick question that I couldn’t find an answer to, 76 Dry Sump GTB isn’t registering anything on the oil temp gauge. How can I determine if it’s the oil temp sending unit in the oil tank or the gauge itself? I haven’t pulled the gauge to determine if the wire is attached yet. My experience is that the coolant and oil temps run close to each other.

Remove the wire at the oil temp sender and ground it. you should see full scale reading. If so, sensor is bad. If not, check the gauge or wiring.

Also if you drive the car in cold weather it will take an age to register any oil temp even if working, I used to stuff a rag down the intake to prevent cooling air blowing over the oil cooler.

Thanks, I will give that a try. I was thinking the same on the impact of the colder temps. I am driving in 40’s to low 50’s range without any temp change on the gauge.
