My STOP button LED needs replacement; What is the bulb spec? Does the button cover pop off to expose the bulb? Or do I have to disassemble the AC panel?

    It's not an LED.

You will need a 7219 bulb but best to replace both the STOP and RECIR bulbs so they are the same brightness.

And you may need a couple of green "socks".

To replace the bulbs you have to remove the HVAC panel. Then remove the PCB from the housing and unsolder to old bulbs and solder in the new one in. If you can't removed the original green socks from the old bulbs and need to use new one you have to carefully cut off the ridge at the bottom of the new sock if they have ridges.

seems relatively simple, but before I dive in, are there any tips/tricks separating the unit? Do the knobs come off separately or are they part of the upper part of the housing?

We have done about 50 of them if you need someone to take care of it. Disassemble the panel and replace both bulbs. The bulbs must be soldered on.

Once you take the PCB out of the housing the rest is obvious. But it's best to use some desoldering braid to remove the solder from the old bulbs joints so the PCB hole are clear. The bulb is mounted on little standoffs.
