Actually no one can prove conclusively where the Spanish Flu originated, but one of the first large documented outbreaks was in a military camp in Kansas, USA...
And don’t forget the most deadly of the bat-borne flus - Hendra virus! Only reason it didn’t become a pandemic is because (Ebola like) it kills its host before any transmission can occur.

Sorry, yes, covid is a virus as is Hendra. Spanish flu was a flu and it broke out before the end of WW1. (spring 1918).
