forgot to mention, that this pouch has a lot of other rare daytona itmes too, so that should be discounted out.

based on ebay sales and condition, my guess would be a basic pouch with the basic books would sell for anywhere from $5k on up.

well, first of qall, "significantly less" is the starting price. one can safely assume that the bids will jump greatly near the end. to know it is a "no reserve auction" brings more bids. i would assume the waters were being tested.

this set has far more than the average set, especially if you own the car in question. who ever has this car, regardless of price, this is a steal.

if i was able to find an equivelant set for one of my dino's, i would be more than happy to over pay as well.

The first picture on this thread is my pouch from 16793, and I didn't include pictures of the original window sticker, original clock tag (not really a pouch item, they came on the clock), yellow cloth (glove box item), etc. The bottom line is that these Document pouches with all the goodies are doing North of $12K these days and will probably go higher as the cars continue to rise in value.

What is interesting about the eBay Document Pouch is that it is a 4cam/early Daytona Pouch (outside pocket, different lining). 16501 should have had the pouch shown in the first post. My guess is that since the car sold so late in the game (1975), the dealer probably scrounged around the dealership looking for stuff for the car and came up with an earlier warranty card, earlier Pouch, Dino Directory, etc. My document package has the same type of earlier Guarantee Card instead of the 1973 blue Warranty Booklet. But, it is signed by the dealer and has the original owner's name and address in the book.

the problem with so many of these pouches are they aren't common anymore.

most cars that come up for sale (regardless of model), don't have books. whether these are worth that much or not is hard to say. forget all the arguements against, these book are hard to find. more often than not, the books that come up on ebay are from former owners.

i think prices are crazy, however, the number of book sets that have come up over the last three+ years, are diminishing. although prices are going up, and we question values, i remember when dino book sets came up about two times a month. now we are lucky if they show up once every 3 months. the same has to be true for even more rare books like 60's ferrari's
