The instrument electrical plugs are truly the most diabolical creation ever. They suck.

You need to carefully pry the locking tab down while slowly working the plug free. It can a truly miserable experience but try to resist the urge to use a lot of force. It will eventually break free with perseverance.

One other thing: each of the plugs are different. Some require prying and others require depressing the tab.

Interesting. It seems like the spider has a few extra wires going to the instrument panel. Not sure of the colours, though...

    13. orange (unused on non-spider)

    Right Hand:
    1. red (unused on non-spider)

If you spray a small amount of contact cleaner (so no harm done) round th egap between where the plug is contact with the socket it will lubricate it a bit and they should come apart a lot more easily :)

Thank you for the tip. Would you think sticking a small flat head screwdriver to pry the tab down while pulling will do the trick? The 2 larger clips were easy as you just pinch the tab and pull out.

It worked! Now, any idea how to get the control knob on the front of the Speedo off?

Sorry, I forgot the speedo had one, too.

It seems like a different part number, so I'm not sure.

The speedos do sometimes have issues. If you do determine there’s a issue with the gauge and need to have it repaired, I recommend North Hollywood Speedometer. They’re great to work with and know what they’re doing.

Awesome, thanks for the reco. I’m in the South Bay so will try Paul’s Speedometers in Redondo Beach first. Hoping a bench test tomorrow will identify the problem.
