Sometimes a sticker really is, just a sticker. Funny how this particular topic seems to raise such angst.
I leave the shields on so people don't think I drive a nice car.

Some years ago a fellow member in Qld had just picked up his new 360 Spider.
On his way home he rolled to a stop at a set of lights and right next to the crossing was a bus stop.
    The successful and well read, no synapsing inbred, sitting in the shelter bellows at full note;
"Hey mate you're just a fu#&king wanker" to which came the reply.
    I know I'm a wanker,....... but I'm a rich wanker in a Ferrari,
you, however, are just a fu%#king wanker at a bus stop!
Lights turn green, big smile on his face, no comeback, and all is well in the universe again.

But did he have shield stickers, and was it a F1?

    Context is important.

Probably not. If he had shields and was driving an F1 the gentleman at the bus stop would have simply thought

"**** that guy is a legend. What good taste he has. Not like those non-shield, manual driving wankers."

The 355F1 is a landmark car, period. It's just out of date with modern tech, that's all.

It's expensive for sure but not as bad as many people make it out to be. I reckon most of these sooks simply come from the modern era of supercars.

People are just spoilt these days. Supercars come with 7 years free maintenance and they hardly ever break down.

Of course I can only speak of mine, not all of them. Mine's been really reliable and most issues I've been able to sort out thanks to the brains trust on this forum.

I’ll bet if people whome own classic Ferrari’s actually drove them on a regular basis they wouldn’t be as unreliable as the legend suggests and most of the cost would be common wear n tear items, ie, brakes, tyres, clutches, bushes, underwear ect Image Unavailable, Please Login

OK well this was said by Moretts:
The QV is the best of the 308s and the 328 is a solid car as well, but if the 2V cars have had the valves done then there is nothing wrong with them ... get one, give me a call if you need some help selecting between the good, the bad and the ugly

    And Jon:
Back on topic, having done around 30,000 km's in a glass GTB and heving lived with the QV for 22 years, I can say the only thing I miss from the GTB is the induction noise.

The QV is better in every other bit.

In this thread from 2008 and you didn't make comment then...

The biggest cost I've had in my first year of ownership has been down to me "fixing" things that most people wouldn't give a toss about. It's been extremely reliable otherwise.

General upkeep is certainly far more expensive than a modern Ferrari though. That's the nature of it. It wasn't cheap even when it was new. Times have changed.

I had the same experience, replacing fuel pumps F1 pump and tyres in the first month or so and it had a major while the roof was off

I have told you this before - with me driving my GTB, with a fresh engine, against my father in Horse, there was nothing in it up to 160k's.
