Giving up my Lamborghini Urus for a 812 Superfast. We hope it’s a very good everyday driver We bought it used but the only major option it doesn’t have is the Lift system. We live in the desert where the roads are very clean and no pot holes. It seems a little higher then most of the other models. It’s a 2019 with about 2,200 miles. We should get it in about a week or two. We are two Seniors that are excited to start this journey Thanks Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
You will be able to spot your car in a parking lot easily. Love that yellow. Congratulations to you both.
My wife and I thought about powder coating the wheels black Any thoughts. Also what cell phone holder works best without attaching to a/c vent. We also bought a Uniden R3 radar detector. I think we have to hardwire instead of running a long cable to socket? They want $1,700 to ceramic coat the entire car including wheels and glass Is this in the ballpark? Thanks Steve Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Congratulations on a stand-out car. Can you post pictures of the interior as well? I would leave the wheels as they are - they are a lovely design and if you paint them black, you will lose the visual effect of their shape. I’m also guessing that anything black is going to have more problems with heat if you’re in the desert. Is there any particular reason why you want to ceramic coat? I have experience of ceramic coating and waxing my cars. I prefer wax. Ceramic coat has something of a marketing mythology around it. If you really want to spend money protecting your car, put the $1700 towards a full PPF and skip the ceramic coat.
Congrats on the new wheels! The 812 is an awesome car. A few thoughts on your questions; - agree with above, full PPF is better use of money for protection than ceramic coat - check out this phone holder which i installed and works well. Better than windscreen mounted or the ones in vents: https://www.belkin.com/uk/p/P-F8J168/ - I had a radar detector hardwired into my Portofino. You can run a power supply up and into the assembly with the mirror in center of windscreen. I found it useless with too many false alerts, but I know some models are better than others. happy huntin Karl
The car has the PPF applied already. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I think black wheels would look awesome with the yellow. The TDF forged wheels are awesome in black. Also think about getting carbon center caps if you don't want the yellow from the originals. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats! Great tastes! He am Not sure what age senior is but I hope to make it with the same car as u Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congratulations! I think you will love it! Suggest you have them do the alignment on the car before delivery, this way you will have the car driving the best possible way- you’d be surprised how often this can be out- and you wont feel it going straight, but around bends the car is not dangerous but just a little inconsistent feeling. Wheels- entirely a style statement. If you like the black wheels go for it! Personally, i think the car is way better without the black- plus yellow/black too much becomes (to my eyes) too “Bumblebee” (and I enjoy the movies) PPF/Coating- so many threads on this topic. I find the best results are PPF with a coating- the coating really just makes your life easier when you are washing the car. If you have a professional who will detail and maintain the finish then you dont need to spent the money. I think 1700 for the coating is not too bad. I would be cautious with the windshield as in the past some treatments could cause the wipers to not function as well as you might like- but that was not specific to ceramic, I’d just want to learn. Congrats on your stunning 812...its a wild beast! I normally don't like black wheels on my cars but in combination with yellow and other black and carbon exterior parts I actually prefer the black wheels....here's my F12: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Personally I like the wheels as they are. Black would look good also but the current combination pops more. $1700 sounds like a lot for a car that has ppf already as a lot of the cost of ceramic coating is prepping the paint first. Ceramic coating is literally wipe on, let cure, wipe off. Sometimes heat lamps are used also after applied. Should not be as expensive as you were quoted..
Congrats! You’re going to love it. I happen to really like the wheels, but full disclosure, I have the same wheels, so I am biased. Definitely yes on the ceramic over the PPF. I have not washed my 812 in 18 months. I have the Uniden R3. Works great, and I have my dealer tap into the rear view mirror for a seamless install.
Thanks for the Info I’ll have the ceramic coating done this week and the radar unit taped into the rear view mirror Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
congrats! although the rear of the SF still looks like a turtle to me. the front of the mclaren 720s looks like an insect. does anyone else see these things?
I’ve put 10-12k miles on both my urus and 812. The urus is very comfortable but I only need it for the 4 seats and trunk space. I’d imagine you will be extremely happy every time you look at and drive the 812! I try and drive mine as much as possible even for mundane errands. It makes everything better.
Not from the driver's seat! @ZORRO212. Lovely car. What color are your calipers? I think black wheels with giallo exterior and a little pop of yellow from calipers would look great, as in the lovely F12 example that was posted earlier...T
