Hi I have been looking and want to know if this was ever built? I note that the value/desirability of 275GTB (not GTB/4) excluding the more special competition variants seems to be:

    - Short Nose - 3 carb
    - Short Nose - 6 carb
    - Long Nose - 3 carb steel body
    - Long Nose - 6 cab steel body
    - Long Nose - 3 carb alloy
    - Long Nose - 6 carb alloy

Is that right? If so the most desirable SN would be a 6 carb and the most desirable Long Nose is the 6 carb alloy.

    Thanks

Excepting the Short Nose Competition and Speciale Competition 275 GTBs, the Alloy body was introduced as an option on the Long Nose 275 GTB.

Most desirable of the street Long Nose 275 GTBs is Alloy body with 6 carbs and with Torque Tube Drive Shaft.

Also there was chassis #07993 an Alloy Long Nose 275 GTB that had some specially ordered features for Alberto Silvera such as chrome around the front fender gills, SNAP exhausts and some interior mods. This car was pre Torque Tube and had the Interim Drive Shaft.

    #07993 had 6 carbs too.

Sold for $4.62M at auction in 2014.

Thanks Steve that’s what I thought after reviewing serial numbers but wanted to double check.

what do you think the approximate money is on each for a restored (top but not concours) condition car? I looked at Hagerty and the numbers are quite different to what I saw from dealers and auctions.

Given a choice I would take a steel body 275 long nose torque tube car over an alloy car. Makes a stronger car and less electrolysis issues in the panels where they attach to the frame structures. Someone told me they started using cheaper alloy when steel was unavailable at the time. It's also much easier and faster to work with.

I’m kind of inclined to favour a short nose 6 carb as being the purest design with that in mind. Be interested in the views of others.

Yes, a short nose is the purest of the bunch with no fiberglass and a beautiful front grille.

From best as I can tell, excluding the eleven 275 GTB/C Series I 'Competizione Clienti' cars (including Prototipo #06021), and the 3-4 Competizione Speciales like 06701, 06885 and 7185, there’s actually only ONE alloy-bodied 275 GTB ROAD CAR within the SHORT NOSE serial number range: 06925.

And the owner of 275 GTB/C Series I 'Competzione Clienti' #07577 tells me his car has a STEEL body!

Any pictures of 06925? Marcel Massini posted a letter from Dr Enrico Wax to Mike Parkes regarding this car. See here. 07577 was also discussed around the same time. See posts by Dyke and 375+.

Does anyone know why the weight difference is with an alloy body on a long nose car? I did a search and no one seems to have any hard numbers.

275 GTB alloy three carb- 2,608 lbs.
275 GTB steel six carb- 2,757 lbs.
Both cars weighed on the same race scales without fuel, but with spare tire, jack and toolkit.
