You've come onto a public forum asking how do deal with a certain problem..including doing a modification that you think will work yet a masterful person has given you an example of how it did not make any difference. Several other folk have passed their ideas to you including me and you're giving it to me as though I'm a Johnny come lately I don't like that.. Please stop. Ban ensuing..
How do you explain this............... Evens waterless has a boiling temp of 190. Normal coolant boiling temp of 109. And mine is NOT a modification , its a fluid ..............gee stop now . or You'll be banned from the GG. You know Jack about the marque and NO I don't wish to have an alloy radiator even if its placed in the original size.
Nothing worse then cutting sugar cane and a tick lobs onto you ,not that I've ever cut cane. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You have said your S1 is modified with an airconditioner,'cos the first S1's weren't..is that correct? It has an overheating issue because you run the original radiator,is that correct? It seems to me that the person who fitted the aircon didn't know about fitting a larger rad that was fitted to later cars,am I correct? Ian has given you an arguement about not doing the Evans mod and yet you want to continue with it..correct? When your S1 breaks down,as the Corniche, did, will you post pics of it on a flattop?
Correct but most Pommy cars of that era had similar issues...as you asked me when I was looking at E Types...or had you forgotten? The new convertible, roadster, spider, ragtop is Pommy and was known for it as well...so it was modified.
Yep,we tried to keep southern vermin out, unfortunately some of youall got over the border. I have to get a pass to re-enter next week 'cos Gladioli hasn't got her state's shoit together yet.
Didn't I say remove the engine fan? I meant to. Plenty of room then. Used to do that all the time. Invisible from the outside and gives more power and better economy and better cooling, not that money is significant to a BTC like you!
This could be a fun daily for someone. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1988-fiat-x1-9-manual/SSE-AD-7011956/?Cr=22
A/C was an option on the cars sold into England till around 1968, My car was fitted from new with A/C but had the small radiator as did all cars in that period. I give up you are way out of your depth re these cars. It only gets hot in heavy standstill traffic ,the Evans product is what i will try due to its high boiling point of 190
The obvious solution is to purchase a revolving blue light you can stick on the roof when you see heavy traffic ahead and just barge your way through. You're welcome.
Rob, whilst the Evans has a higher boiling point, the problem is that if your alloy heads get above 120 degrees, the valve seats will distort - ask me how I know I've tried electric fans on the Vette, the engine didn't run cooler, the only benefit was a tiny bit more power due to removing the engine fan. Have you considered changing the radiator cap, going up a couple of pounds in pressure? If you have a 6 blade fan, fit a 7 blade. Next thing, if you have a clutch on the engine fan, fit a higher resistance one. I fitted a 454 clutch to the vette and immediately solved the hot running. You might find that the standard fan clutch is adjustable too.
Update : looks like your car only has a 5 blade fan. The easy fix is to change to a 6 blade. I bet someone makes them, you can't be the only owner with overheating problems.
Yep I would, your car wasn't fitted with the correct size radiator, obviously, and because you're a pedant on this you're going to go down a path that an extremely knowledgable person here has now twice tried to persuade you otherwise. Horse (not THAT one)............. water.
