Another thought Rob is to put a cooling system cleaner through it. Nulon seems to work well. Follow the instructions on the bottle. Afterwards, flush the engine and radiator with a garden hose, then with distilled water (you'll need to buy about 40 litres) before filling with coolant plus distilled water. On the advice of Taz (V12 thread) who did all the research, I use Zerex G-05 concentrate, mixed 20:80 with distilled (not "demineralised") water.
I had the radiator flushed of scale ect about a year ago, it helped a hell of a lot. I'll do the Nulon treatment as well ,as theses cars are easy to remove water i.e tap on the side of the block like the Jag's. I'll read up on Zerex as well, I understand where you coming from re the temp of boiling point of the Evens product and alloy heads ,ta for that .. I've already ordered 20 litres and paid for , I'll get a credit and start again . if i cracked a head on this old girl, it would be the bone yard for her ..
Took Shagger for it's first proper run where corners and hills were involved...'King awful,! Tyres at the right pressure 35 all round? Squirmy, very easy for tailout..when you DON'T want it! and very pendulum like, luckily the brakes are great! Not falling in love at the moment.
Are you surprised? Look what’s been spent on Rob’s to try and make them a good car to drive. Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
Don't know about that Greg,my Volvo 122s handles way better, the P1800 was a little similar. The Alfa's of course were all great. I dunno, it's still on the rubbish Galaxy brand rubber I'd like to think that proper stuff will bring it back somewhat. .....but yes there's no doubt that it probably doesn't matter what Ferrari you park your arse in,it's going to be better than a standard prepared E Type.
Well yes actually. With all the high spec stuff at the time,2cams,4 discs,3 carbs, flash arse end etc. As I said we'll see if proper tyres makes up the difference.
Here: I dunno, it's still on the rubbish Galaxy brand rubber I'd like to think that proper stuff will bring it back somewhat. The 2+2 has a longer wheelbase but same track that'll be most of the difference. I reckon. I'll get on the forum to see what is the solution.
half the issue will be tyres . and skinny wheels , as I've said before . Avons . 2252 rear 205s front wider wheels 6 inch heavy front sway bar. Gaz shockers are a good option rear springs drop the nose with the torsion bar settings. It will never handle as well as a 2 seater but it can work fine.
Funny you should mention that,my newly coming convertible, roadster, spider, softtop is pretty much the same! So much so that I phoned the club, emailed the list of unbrand stuff fitted,to find out if it was still that brand of car!! They said you bet it is only better!.
Very fast apparently.... 'cos having one point left means I really should have bought a Trabant instead!
