the switch that activates the cap cap on my new ( to me) 575M is or seems to be in-op lll
it is possible that the solenoid is NG , but i need to know how to remove the switch without marring the finish of the place it's inserted into

can i just pry it out with a sharp tool?

Fred- Try one of the plastic/nylon tools used for interior work. Usually available in sets very cheap.

Those two switches (fuel and trunk) are identical except for markings, so pull both and swap them to see if it is the switch.

Do you hear the solenoid working? If so, I had the same problem, with solenoid making "noise" but filler cap not opening. I think i opened the hatch with a plastic card. Bending the metal catch slightly solved the problem. (FWIW, IIRC, this was an Oh!!! Sh*t moment...I was running on empty and in the middle of nowhere, at night, and the gas hatch wouldn't open)

The rubber paint protector in the fuel filler well will also sometimes foul the release if not carefully folded and inserted.

Seems to be a common theme on Ferraris. Same on my F355. Sometimes you can get extra purchase on the release mechanism with the backup

initially , neither of the switches worked, but last night , the trunk latch activated, and was able to pull the release cable,,
i manually flexed the solenoid latch , but that doesn't do it either,

the car came from Florida , and i am in Colorado with freezing temps, perhaps the cold might have something to do with it

i assume the switches can be pried out and they are held in by little snaps on 2 sides, but i would like confirmation before i try that one

Both not working? Do you need the ignition on to operate these switches on the 575?

It's still not clear if you are hearing the solenoid activate (see post #4). Usually you can hear something trying to open the lid. If you can't hear anything, then it could be the button, it could be the fuse or it could be the solenoid. There is also a relay associated with the fuel lid (R12).

Before you risk breaking the switches, I would try checking fuses, swapping relays, etc.

Ian- No, both those switches work with the ignition off. At least they have for 13 years for me.

Weird. The owner's handbook says relay R12 is:

    "Attuartore cofano e sportello benzina
Lid and fuel tank flap actuator"

Attuartore cofano = bonnet (hood) according to Google Translate. Why would you need a relay (for power) if power comes straight off the battery? If there is a relay between the buttons and the actuators, then you would need two relays.

We really need some wiring diagrams for these cars.
