Our next Ferrari project has arrived! The F8 Spider. This will be replacing our recently departed 488 Spider (Novitec exhaust and HRE R101LW wheels currently for sale). Look for updates, because as this is being posted wheels and exhaust are being finished up! We look forward to getting to know the F8 more and comparing it side by side with our 488 Pista.

And of course, we will update you and give you our impressions of the products we use and live with on this build.

Here are some links to the parts for sale on our previous 488 build at a nice discount!

Looks great. Which exhaust setup are you going to install? I'd love to hear the Novitec Race Exhaust with stock cats.

Thank you! We will be installing the Novitec Race exhaust and keeping factory cats on this car :)

Thought so. Novitec doesn't market it as such. Their exact wording is: power optimized exhaust system without flap regulation, in other words non valved. That is the way to go. At least for me.

It will happen but the car will be in the shop for a while. Unfortunately, everything will be delayed.

Yes, non valved is correct. And as for the wheel gap...that will be addressed in VERY short order :)

Hey Sean, when do you anticipate having the race exhaust back in stock? Is it really taking 2 months to get parts from Novitec? Thanks

For the most part, these are on a per-order basis. So, it is best to pre order as the normal lead times are varying anywhere from 4-8 weeks. There are times that a few can be in stock, but it is not all that often.

It's anything but a Race exhaust. Talk to Rill at Novi and he will tell you the same.

Installing such an exhaust will pretty much end your track day anywhere as you will be black flagged at the gate. Very few tracks will allow those noise levels.

The valve-less Novi exhaust is a showpiece. It does not even offer better performance that its valved counterpart. Just try a Pista on track with normal valve control and then a Capristo controller. It gets noticeably slower in the lower rpm range as it changes how the turbos react.

I have no doubt forcing the valves open when they are commanded to be closed reduces some low end torque and HP as well. But how much? Is it significant? Most here are not concerned with noise levels for a race track....

The "race" system is more along the lines of a race inspired tone, not necessarily track developed.

We are hoping to install ours in the next two weeks and get some vide clips :) Time lines are still around the 6-8 week mark from date of order.

If it can make it sound better, who cares. I don't mind giving up a fraction of a second for some better quality sound. And none of these are loud enough to get flagged.

Unfortunately, not yet. The oEM exhaust is straight through after the cats on WOT or when the valve is open. This would add extra tubing and turbulence with the X pipe design, so I doubt it is louder without doing the cats. I may be mistaken...
