Not sure how many of you noticed: Theres a 77 3.0 in the new video game Cyberpunk 2077 - and it looks really cool. Sport seats, no AC (small vent), big fog lights.. And then Porsche itself makes a video, bringing the game version Turbo to life... and uses a 3.3 with sunk in fog lights?

Anyhow, our cars never fail to deliver as a pop icon.

    Merry christmas!

    (I think I am getting a Samurai sticker ;)

Like Webber says, he is in the original turbo. Might not be as fast, but definitely special. The lightest, too, which counts for a lot in terms of driving enjoyment. Not that I would kick any of the other generations of turbo out of my garage. A few years back I nearly added a 996 Turbo as my 4 season daily driver before settling on a Cayman S. Loved the Cayman, but still like the idea of getting a turbo as a daily to complement the '77.

Is that a bid at $520k or a reserve price?

On another note and for another comp on an early Turbo, I sold 1 of my 1976 930's privately for $200,000.

It appears as though maybe these cars are finally firming up after their dip? 50 year anniversary of the Turbo is just 4 years away.. I now have 3 remaining.

Thanks Chris. Red, white and blue is gone... I still have 76 Emerald Green, 77 Silver / Lobster red and a 76 project (silver, russet red, tartan inserts).

The project is starting to make sense to do and to be in cheap but then again, I don't have it in me mentally to go through with another restoration.

76 project up is up for grabs at 75k if anyone has it in them. Pics are in a dropbox I can share. Just PM me.

    Cheers!

That’s a special one. Hopefully going to a good home and will be shared on here from time to time.

Yes would be nice to know if the bid is actually 520K or if it’s the starting price

To be clear, these are two different auctions, both for green, RHD, Australian ‘75s

Chassis 16 ice green, is the ex Aussie Motor Show car, restored, and has been at auction all month - and is bid at A$520 plus 7.5% buyers premium, closing in a few hours.

Chassis 85 emerald green has just gone live on collectingcars.com and will take about a week to sell.

Like buses...you wait and you wait for RHD 75 Turbos and then two come along at once.

There were only 6 RHD 75s to Australia in total.

Hopefully both of these cars go to good, long-term homes, and we see more of them here and on the road.

Here's the rest...this car has done a little over 30k miles from new and I think it drives pretty faithfully to original. So the idea was to write an article in which a very experienced driver/journalist (Richard Meaden) would have licence to drive it hard, on road and track, to properly evaluate the chassis and see whether there is more truth in the "widow-maker" cliches we are all so tired of, or the in-period reviews of the car handling well, comparing favourably to even the 2.7 RS. We had one of each on test, just to be sure.

Its nice to see the close up photos of the Hamilton car #016 particularly the engine bay. What sticks out to me and others please chime in if you agree or not. The pre production airbox of course has a different shape than production, that has been known. however it looks as tho it is made from fiberglass and not injection moulded plastic. I think i see fiberglass fabric weave inside. that would make sense. I dont remember at what date the 930 project got the green light but i believe green light to the first preproduction vehicles was rather short.

It has not been confirmed as sold, as far as I know. Unofficial, local reports suggest that the closing bid (A$ 525?) wasn’t enough, and that efforts were being made to talk the buyer up.

Unless I hear different, I will assume it did not.

Would be great to see it returned to the original green leather, carpet and wheel centre trim,

Late ‘75 RHD Salmon Metallic in the shop, ready for an interior re-trim to correct colours, patterns and materials. 9305700080 sits in the foreground. That car has an original interior, so is there, hopefully, to provide some valuable guidance.

Hi JB21, are your 2 cars still in Australia? PS I own 9305700281 situated in Melbourne, 281 was originally sold into Adelaide. And I have owned it since 2006.

No, they are in the UK. Only the red one is an Aussie car. The Salmon car was first owned in HK. It belongs to a good friend. Glad to hear that 281 is still going strong. I have it listed as a silver car , non-sunroof, A/C car with a red interior? Is that right?

Yes that’s correct, it’s still all original (except a new paint job a few years ago) with 98k on the clock. It’s a pity we lost 80 from Australia, that is such a nice example, fingers crossed 85 and 16 will stay in Oz. It would be good to know where the other 3 are now.
