Peak power on the 575M is at 7250 rpm, to it make sense it would drop off above that, even at redline of 7500 rpm. Going a bit higher keeps the average up after a shift, but too much higher you found out what happens.

That makes sense. The butt-dyno can really feel the power falling off the closer to 8k it gets in higher gears.

Viper was 9.37, so it still has quite a bit of time to make up and ideally I'd prefer the 575 to beat the Viper. Currently looking into 550 exhaust manifolds as they should be a direct bolt on. But require some modification for o2 sensor placement.

Dropped the 575M off for service ... insert 40 year old virgin quote here.

    The following day:

Corner balanced, suspension tolerances adjusted and aligned.

This is after losing 150 lbs and half tank of fuel. . . porky. Ferrari claims 50/50 weight distribution. lol

Ti exhaust is looking beautiful although unseen.

After the corner balance and suspension adjustments IT IS SO MUCH BETTER. Its neutral in the corners with much more turn-in grip. Comfortable ride characteristics. But my girlfriend is still reminding me that her car is louder & faster

I forgot to mention. There was a strong fuel smell after filling the tank and taking a hard corner. . . so Mr. Steve Maxwell (Ferrari genius) popped off the rear trunk panel to see fuel remains from the fuel pump assemblies, but ran a smoke test to ensure that was the issue (and so he wouldn't have to deal with me, lol). Per usual, he was correct.

For the past few months I've been living without the carpet cover in the trunk (because it needed to come out for the pumps) and now I'm dealing with the carpet cover which .... takes up space and has zero soul. I am debating on reaching out to a local carbon guy to make a carbon version of the factory yellow/orange panel under the carpet that covers the tank. If anyone is interested, let me know as I'm sure he will likely do a single run. To be clear, I don't think this will offer any noticeable weight loss ... and its in the trunk, so its not seen often. But will fill my unreasonable wants.

I suggest going to smaller, lighter front wheels and tires with help with acceleration, especially at high speed.
it won’t help handling but engineering is all about compromise

Yeah, that would definitely help the straight line. I debated on throwing the stock wheels back on the front to see if it was quicker (heavier but the tires are skinnier, 255 vs. 305, and have less rolling resistance). But I'm about an all around car, so compromising straight line speed for handling and braking.

This is one of the best threads I have read. I've learnt so much stuff I had no idea about, being just an ordinary 575 owner. That's why this is such a great forum. I look forward to the ongoing evolution of Nick's car. A hot rod 575. So cool.
Digressing, I happened to saw this 575 advertised for sale in London. I think it looks fabulous in Grigio. Possibly the prettiest colour I've seen a 575 in. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Looks like Grigio Alloy Mica, which is pretty blue.

There's also a lot of front tire hitting the air, which creates a lot more drag than a solid surface would.

That's the colour described. I've seen it on 360s but not on a Maranello.

Some good ride along footage and exhaust sound at 10:55. But the vid overall is worth a watch.

550 exhaust manifolds just arrived. Essentially they are budget headers for the 575 and should have a significant power gain (hopefully kill the power drop-off above 7250rpm), clean up the exhaust note, lower underhood temps and drop a few pounds. Going to need to add some o2 bungs though.

Are the 550 headers a good design or is it only better since the 575 is a manifold style with the cats?

Big difference is no precats. Not the same as Fabio's headers, but should be an improvement. Especially with the large pipes he is running in the rear.

The 575 has a very short manifold with a 90 degree downturn and cat. It looks more at home on a civic than a ferrari. The 550 has a tubular manifold with significantly longer runners, although still short design, aka "shorty headers". The 550 is a good design for an OEM piece but the 550 manifolds will not make the power/sound of Fabio's long tube headers.

Looking forward to seeing whether draggy picks up any difference. Should be interesting.

I know a man who can sort you out with disabling cat efficiency monitoring on your ecu’s if you want too, as well as some fuel/ignition optimisation.

While under the car found out that I have a coolant leak. Wonderful, I really wanted to take off the exhaust and intake manifolds.

Really odd how the coolant leaked onto the exhaust
