Good video in that Jay showed real enthusiasm for the car. The Stratos is that kind of car! Lots of factual inaccuracies (works engines close to 500hp???) but still good. Some weird stuff in the car. It’s really strange that it has leather seats as the Stradale never came with leather and I’ve never heard of a grp.4 Stratos having ones either, you just don’t put leather in a rally/race car. Works cars certainly didn’t and the privateer ones tended to copy what the factory did. I wonder if the new owner did it to give the car a more “polished“ look.
Well, Jay was talking about rally cars and the turbo was a group 5 road racing car. It’s questionable if it can be regarded as a real Stratos as it was purely a silhouette car. I believe the photo you have is of a replica. From what I remember none of the the few cars made in period survived as they kept overheating and catching on fire. So the group 5 turbos did put over 500hp but usually only briefly...
Apparently I’m wrong - of the two grp 5 turbos built one burned but the other survives. https://**********.com/p/smoking-marlboro-group-5-lancia-cwpEU1n_QmmlU9d0tkE-mg?iid=IeDbbJH2SK21rdX5SSx9mw
My Swiss buddy has the Aseptogyl turbo Stratos that looks much closer to a normal GR4 car. I was with Dennis McCann and he got it started after it sat for a long time. I saw the Silhouette car at Faccetti's shop (very cool!).
