Need a pic please of the Pininfarina metal shield on an 80-82 GTSi. Strangely my car (81 GTSi, Canada car) never had one. There are no holes drilled in either side of the car for it. No, it was never in an accident and improperly/incompletely repaired. An No, it has never been repainted. Just one of the hmmmmm? things. Anyway, need a good close-up pic. Can anyone help me please?
Johnny, Not exactly. Only placed on the DRIVER'S Side, LHD or RHD dependant AND the OEM Part has two studs that penatrate the bodywork.
I have one beat-up OEM with two studs. I'm buying another to replace it, also with 2 studs. Then I wonder when they made the change?

Hi Mark, Long time since I last read some lines from you, isn't it? Yes the badge has two studs that penetrates the body work, which means two holes; but no, it's not drivers' side dependant: the first GTBs (= vetroresinas) had the badge on the right side, whatever side the driver was intended to be (= even LHD had the badge on the right side); then, about at the middle of the Vetroresina production, the badge migrated from the right side to the left (whatever side the driver was supposed to be). Yes; see my post #12 above: only the first third or so of 308 GTB Vetroresinas had the badge on the right side, this irrespective of the driver's position, LHD or RHD; after about a third of the production, the "Pininfarina" badge shifted from right side to left side of the car, and stayed there until the end of the 328 production. Dude in Germany asks about a badge. A couple of Americans use a fractions of an inch ruler/tape measure to measure it. Embarrassing guys! Get some real tape measures! At the very least dual scale. haha...
hahaha. I have four and only one of them has inches on it (along with metric). The other three are metric only. They are awesome. No fractions.
Metric tape measures are hard to find in the US, definitely not at the usual big box stores. Sometimes metric/inch tape measures can be found but IMO a dual type measuring tape is almost as bad as no measuring tape. One has to order metric tape measures from Internet based suppliers. I have been casually looking for one for a while and all that I find are cheap (quality wise) Chinese products with a premium price tag. Metric/inch rulers are easier to find but at only relatively small lengths. Going metric in the US is about as probable as the UK is to changing over to LHD. Too bad, I like metric better.
I stopped what I was doing and went out to the garage to send you the photo. Grabbed what I had out on then table. Should have just continued scrolling......
You sent to the OP. I'm not the OP. I was just lightly ribbing you and Derek. Your photo was certainly still helpful.
I meant on the left side of the car (passenger side) if you have RHD, driver side if you have LHD, I was under the impression the badge is pasted on not mounted with holes/studs on the 328, I have seen those badges sold but without any studs. thanks, it is nice to know !
