I believe it’s due to different (global) market areas having had (and some still do) varying regulations regarding such (safety related) issues.

P.S. ^^ This is better demonstrated by 365 GTB/4 tail light variations.

Might also depend on what a restorer could source at the time... :) (sorry, could not resist)

When I was investigating this, it was really clear that countries had different requirements.

What was difficult to determine was *what years* the different requirements were in effect; all that stuff is pre-internet obviously, and seems there is little motivation out there to document old requirements on-line.

Without being very specific I think that at some point in time most European countries would (have) require(d) amber turn indicators while US would (have) require(d) red ones.

And a lots of cars in past 45-50+ years have been relocated (globally) after ownership changes and some owners may just change lighting according to their personal preference, even if not correct for the cars originally intended configuration or “her” current location of residence.

The Verde Pino (green) 275 GTB #6901 was supplied new to the UK and the Rosso Rubino 275 GTB Competizione Clienti #07641 with interesting SNAP exhausts was supplied new to the US.

Was the SNAP exhaust an original option, or is that a non factory modification?

Various countries did require amber turn indicators, but the red on US cars looked to be more of market preference; (at least by the Daytona timeframe) the regulator documents that I came across seemed to not preclude amber indicators.

The SNAP tailpipes were not fitted by the factory on 275 GTB Competizione Clienti #07641. Probably fitted by Bev Spencer, the supplying Ferrari dealer, before William Lester took delivery when the car was new.

VIP customer Alberto Silvera's Long Nose 6 Carb Alloy 275 GTB #07993 did have SNAP tailpipes fitted by the factory along with some other specially ordered features.
