I was only introduced to it only a few years ago., somewhat concurrently with my developing appreciation of all wine, which is a newer interest in my life. I've been buying a few bottles of their regular releases since then, but other than today's delivery I have only one bottle left of the 2013 PdR of what were originally six. As per your recommendation it seems that I should have waited longer to drink it but I couldn't help myself. :)

I dedicate most of my available liver to bourbon so between my Quilceda Creek and Pahlmeyer allocations and my other wine purchases, I am currently drinking less than I am buying. This is more of a dynamic since the beginning of covid because mrs soulsea doesn't drink and I find wine a lot more enjoyable when shared, and the opportunities for that have been scarce over the last year. Hopefully, and for reasons a lot more important than my wine enjoyment, things will improve soon and we can all go back to sharing all the the things we enjoy.

Picked these up for my Dad. The Caymus Special Selection is always solid. Haven’t had the other two yet, but I hear they are very good as well.

Glad you had the 2013 PDR..I have not open mines yet..magnums too! In your situation you may want to invest in a coravin...that you you only a small or larger portion w/o drinking the whole bottle. The wine keep much longer! FYI...

I am passing on my 2018 Blankiet Estate allocation and 2018 VHR allocation. Let me know if you have interest in taking these. I don't know how difficult it is to get on the list now.
If you ever get to Yountville, please call Blankiet for a visit. It is spectacular.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the discipline to wait that long :)

I give it 5 years before a crack into the case.

I think there are quite a few "100 point" scores coming out of Napa Valley from 2018 vintage. I have pared mailing lists down to Scarecrow, MacDonald, Maybach and SQN. I have been able to backfill with "off" vintages at great pricing like the 2011 vintage. Now, Robb Report writes an article about this and prices go up. Fortunately, there are other "off" vintages and plenty of opportunity,

This seems to be a Cali Cab centered thread. Last night drank a 2008 Silver Oak that I found in the bottom rack. I think I acquired this wine 8 or 10 years ago. Still very nice. Cork crumbled. Also shared a Meyers Family 2016 Can that was drinking very well.

‘99 Ch. Margaux...I like your style!

If you ever fly from London to Dubai try Emirates first class...on my last flight they gave me my own bottle of ‘98 Margaux. The wife went with a bottle of Dom.

    $600-$1000 typically.

However, a Screaming Eagle first flight is like $12k or something crazy like that.

Margaux 99 has been aged beautifully. I was surprised to find out that it didn’t take long to open up and continue to improve over the time. Haven’t try Palmer for that vintage.

I have a case of the 98 Margaux that I have been saving (my daughter’s birth year). You have inspired me to give one a try. I will report back.
