The Z51 spoiler was tested for minimal drag and maximum downforce. In fact the Z51 has a lower top speed than the non version but goes around a track faster.

That spoiler above looks like a lot of drag.

The Z06 is supposed to have active aero but it may be an option. Still waiting to find out.

Uglified. LOL, great term. You mean like what happened to the C3 looking great in '70 vs uglified in '78.

I would have gone to a C8 with a manual and when I'm 70 maybe I will reconsider paddles, but I just got this 2013 427 convertible to play with in FL. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Gm does have a habbit of doing "ugly" add ons. On the other hand I always thought a 599 was ugly, but the aero add on bits for the GTO really gave it something and were purposeful, you could literaly follow the way the air moved along the car from the apendages and they were clearly detailed for purpose., so its possible.

A porche Gt3 is not the looker a targa is. Things designed for purpse.

I think the Pista was a step up in attractiveness from the 488. Same for the 360 Stradale. Not too sure about the Scuderia or Speciale though...

Sometimes it just looks like tacked on stuff.

i think that duck tail spoiler is a big improvement. similar to the spoilers on ferraris. seems like ferrari never does a bolt on wing.

The short z51 wing and The high wing make the same downforce. 400 lbs per GM. The high wing produces less drag.

    Agreed.
Pista is amazing improvement over the 488, from deformed to a beauty, and its essentialy the same body.

Ample opportunity for Gm to do it well or mess it up.

One thing for sure, the C8 is one of those cars better in the flesh than pictires, and inspired from some angles and vanatage points less so in others.

i never see a c8 where i live but was just on vacay in naples fla for 1st time (great place, btw) and could not believe number of c8s along with 488, 720 600lt, etc. usually parked on street nose to tail all over town. they all look great and someone who doesnt know cars couldnt tell which cost more than the other. my personal fav was a c8 convt in bright blue with black wheels and top. was best looking of all despite having too big a rear end. i was very surprised how nice it was.

Man, so it sounds like the 5.5L V8 FPC with a 9,000 RPM redline is basically what’s going into the C8 Z06. I really don’t think I’m going to need to upgrade to a 458, and I’m 99% sure I’m going to be buying this car. If you can get this for about $100k (or less??), it’s a huge bargain. Not just that, but there’s maybe one or two cars that can offer a similar N/A engine package. For the price of one 458 convertible, I can keep my F430 and add a Z06 C8 with an open top (targa or convertible). Really excited about this.

Those look great, increased performance too. If I wasn’t on a list for a Z06, I would jump in.

    Tacked on?
Nothing tacked on the Scud, just gorgeous flowing lines (using 16 as substitute). The Pista on the other hand is the very definition of tacked on gizmos and thingamajiggies.

I'm being glib but my point was that not that these versions are ugly but the aero changes seem more like afterthoughts than an intergal part of the design. It doesn't improve the looks but it might (aka should) improve the performance.

Anyone with a deposit on a C8 Z06? Where did you get it?
Some dealers are not taking deposits. Kerbeck is one that won't take a deposit but my local dealer will (chance of limited allocation).

I could but I haven't yet. I want more details.

Here is what I got from my source the other day

"My "guess" is it will be announced by 2022 calendar year with production beginning late in 2022 as a 2023 model year vehicle. I have started a deal folder list already."

So to me there is rush. Most likely announced in Oct/ Nov of this year. We are looking at a minimum of 16 months before anyone gets one. And if you think about it, it makes sense. They have a back order of 1 year already with C8 pre-orders. If they can push more C8's into dealer lots they can sell even more because some people don't want to pay MSRP (or even more) and some don't want to wait. So I think their goal is to get clear of the bulk of customer orders and then start to send out some quantity to dealer lots that aren't pre-sold.

Why but the Z06 in the mess when you really can't make it anyway?
