so to sum up we have 499, 799, 812, 999 and unnumbered.
It’s definitively crystal clear Nothing more to see here folks, let’s move on to the next model release.........
Around 799-812 units have been confirmed by multiple dealers and other highly reputable people on this thread.
I'm talking about the concept of the MC 20. Maserati made its own development. the carbon bathtub comes from Dallara.
I thought the MC20 was to be the new Alfa 8C, until the Maserati Alfieri became the Roma, and Alfa was left with the Quadrifolgio GTAm...
Ferrari are marketing masters and so good at putting out the messages they want, some of them conflicting. All to create a frenzy, if it is that, of interest and desire. The next Icon will be the limited number series car. The 812 VS ? Well we know soon enough. It will be an amazing car, exceptional, and hugely desirable. Does it matter how many they make ? Driven down to individual markets , the numbers visible will be tiny if they make 500/1000/2000 globally, it is not going to be 2000 plus , so it will be a small production run, and in your market, it will still be a rare car. Like 0.001 % of cars on the road (I made that up, but it will be next to nothing) . If they make 2000 they will all be sold. I hope they do, so more people can get, what will be, one of the last big capacity V12 cars made. Share the joy, make money (Ferrari) . I assume that those that are dying to get one, want to keep it anyway, so who cares about the volumes. In any case, if it is extreme, for most people the 812/GTS would be the more suitable car anyway. And you can buy one of those for a few bags of corn these days.
Well what's the point then?. I would agree that it would have been a mistake if the MC20 was a re-branded Ferrari, but it obviously isn't. The carbon tub is produced by Adler near Naples btw.
Ferrari has its own factory for aluminum chassis, they have to make benefit on it, not to source carbon chassis elsewhere- well, that’s one point among many others that can justify Ferrari hasn’t made this MC20.
I never said they had intentions to source chassis from elsewhere or should do so. I was rather confused as the MC20 was mentioned to be given to Maserati by Ferrari, indicating it's a Ferrari developed car which it obviously isn't.
This is partly true, but not quite. After much discussion, the Dino project got the green light, then the red light ...
The project and the concept come from Ferrari, and the development from Maserati ... although for the engine ... there is to say. If you enter the factory now, you may come across some Dallara in "Prova" plates out of sight. Back to the subject.
Last question regarding this: When Ferrari initiated the Dino project the idea was that it will use a carbon tub as well?
Second and final lists have arrived to most of dealers. They should make also their final decisions. Couple of days more and internet will explode.
That is the golden question, who makes this decision? The dealer or factory? Once the second list comes back, there still are more people on that than then number of cars the dealership will end up getting... So who decides, which people go through the last checkpoint?
I’m still surprised we are at the point of informing lucky clients and no solid intel on what the VS will look like, how it will perform, etc. Clearly Ferrari has done a good job keeping us guessing...patience is not one of my strengths.
