    the 2005 575, or the 2005 612, or the 2005 430?

and did the gearboxes in the 612 and 430 change as the model run continued?

I believe the later 612's had the updated transmission from the 599 dubbed the "SF" transmission (SuperFast).

I don't think there is anything significantly different for the 575 but that would be probably be better answered by @tazandjan

No clue on the F430...but safe to assume the Scuderia had material improvements.

The HGTC 575M (late CY04/CY05) had updated software that pretty much mimicked the F1A system (180 ms min shift time) in the Superamerica and early 612, without the F1 selector that let you go to 1st. The 612 Sessanta and the 612 OTO both had 599 F1 Superfast I software (100 ms min shift time). All 612 F1 models software was updated in the CY07 timeframe to lower shift times to ~ 125 ms, about the same as late F430s.

It should be more than software for the 612 to match the late F430. There were hardware changes on the late 430 side to get the lower shift times and the reduced clutch wear.

The gearbox on the V12s is much tougher than that on the V8s. Not sure if any hardware changes were necessary. Even with Superfast 1 on the OTO 612s, the 599 gearbox case was used to match with the twin disc clutch, but 612 gears were used inside. Many 575M and later (612, 599) gearbox parts were shared with the Enzo.

This sounds right the next improvement came with the super fast 2.. 60ms.... in the 430 Scuderia and the 599 GTO don't think it was used in anything else which is to bad cause it is a very fast solid mechanical shift ....

Larry- Affirmative, Superfast II was only used on the Scuderia/16M and 599 GTO. Ferrari had already fielded the first DCTs by the time the GTO came out, so the handwriting was on the wall. An interim step for the V12s was the 599 HGTE, which had 85 ms min shift times.

    I think that’s correct. My 2005 612 used a CFC231, but 2006 612’s and all 599’s from what I can tell use CFC301 ecu’s.

    are these ecu's interchangeable?

i am guessing the actual hardware is the same, and the ecu just makes the gear changes faster?

Theres other hardware changes too. Notably there's additional sensors like clutch pressure, and acceleration depending on the version.

According to this documentation from Graziano, 612 and 575 'boxes use a few different ratios too.

My understanding is that the 575 boxes onwards used triple cone syncro's on (I think) 1st and 2nd, so were an upgrade over 550's.

Robin- Affirmative, 575M gearboxes were toughened significantly from the 550 for F1, including triple synchronizers (two synchro rings and a steel dog clutch) for the lower gears. Contemporary F1 systems used the same ECUs, but with different algorithms for individual models. Some F1 hardware was interchangeable, some not. Have to go through the parts catalogs to see the differences.
