    I'm not sure you could land on the sea with those skids. I'm guessing it would do a ground (water?) loop as soon as it hit a wave top.

    I think also this one would have benefited from jet engines integrated into the wings. It had a problem of overheating which hurt the power which hurt the speed.

    The Continental XIV-1430 engines were a failure, as they were in the only other aircraft that used them, the Lockheed XP-49. McDonnell wanted to replace them with Allisons or Merlins, but the USAAF wouldn't let them.
