Congratulations! Quick question: Did you have to ask for Michelins? or do they come as OE? and if they are Michelin, which tire? Thank you!

This is actually a requirement (not sure if its Ferrari's own requirement or something outside Ferrari). When working on the electrics, they HAVE to have a barrier up and only that tech is permitted inside that barrier.

Thanks for mentioning that, fun fact
Acura created a lot of this and that for servicing my NSX (ex. Plastic covers for the brake rotors to be installed for service requiring the wheels to be removed), but the work area is not required to be cordoned off

Interesting as well. Maybe if its only if they are working on the battery components?

The example I saw them being used for was during replacement of the fuel cell cells
Honda engineers love their risk mitigation’s, so these cut the risk of the techs damaging the pricey rotors during big repairs

I also have seen this done when dealers are working on LaFerrari- it probably is a safety requirement and seems to me like a prudent measure.

So the car is as fast as you would expect. I saw 187 mph indicated on the back straight at CoTA, which is about 5 mph faster than my 600 lb lighter Senna did. This is still a street car, even with the Asseto Fiorano pkg, not a track car, so in retrospect, I wish I wouldn't have ordered the AF pkg since it doesn't ride as well as a car with MR shocks, and I don't have the front lift. It's not bad, but MR shocks have spoiled me in my 458/Pista/ZR1.

eD mode is interesting...it will do about 5 miles at "WOT" at 87 mph until the battery is depleted. Then about 20 miles later in Hybrid mode, it's fully recharged.

In the real world, I would say it doesn't feel noticeably quicker than the Pista, except from a standstill. That's how fast cars have gotten these days. It's also a bit quieter.

Very interesting observation regarding the shocks as this has been a concern of a number of customers who are 'on the fence' about which way to go.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I can very much relate to your feedback:

    - MR shocks have spoilt us all. Its not that you can't live with the firmer setup, you just miss the flip-side, when you're not 100% in the mood for it.

    - eD is a novelty mode, I guess. Hybrid for performance, not the environment and all.

    - Launch is a great party trick, the zap of acceleration must be fun.

    - Real world speed, I wondered about this after watching the Dragtimes guy against a turbo R8, which seemed very close. Like you say, they are all fast - fast enough to catch next week. Pista on boost, for that matter an F8, is already very much at the sharp end.

Thanks again for the feedback and enjoy your wonderful machine :)

With about 250 fewer horsepower how close could your ZR1 get to the 187 MPH registered by your SF90 Stradale at the CoTA back straight?

It's a manual, cant launch as hard off T11 due to traction limitations, and has more drag. It can't break 170, even with no lift shifts.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, can you tell the front motors are doing their thing other than the car's ability to turn

Yes, on track the torque vectoring is quite noticeable. Takes some time to get used to!

Non-AF cars have PZ4's. AF cars have Cup 2's. And the Cup 2 R is an option. Not sure if they come standard with CF wheels.

Compared to a 458 how’s the exhaust note.

I’m only kidding. My sf90 order is moving can’t wait.

I was told an SP (? 1 or 2?) hit 186. For comparison I had my F12 up to 174 mph on the back straight and my 812 180 mph. They’re probably good for 3 mph more. To be truthful, I am always late on the throttle at 11 as I need to old school it take it wide and get a run at it with the V12s instead of my continued bumbling trail braking it.

ps Sorry I wasn’t there with my 812 Sanjay, was on call that weekend.

FWIW my (stock) dot 1 GT3 RS tops out in the low/mid 150s. That car you can carry more speed into 11, wiggle the rear and get on throttle quicker (ironic to think of that as a momentum car.........)

It is the acceleration of the 812 when passing GT3s/other lesser/500 hp cars on the back straight which is mind blowing. But the price to pay is brakes- if one drives the (heavy) 812 aggressively (9/10), brake pads last one weekend.

Sanjay how did your pads wear?
