Here is a picture of the 288GTO document pouch and book set. Courtesy of "The Ferrari Bloodline Collection" - thank you Karim The complete set of factory-supplied original books & pouch should contain: - The document Pouch - I have seen 2 styles, this one which is often referred to as the Gucci style, and the other a dark red leather pouch similar to the 328 and a few other cars of that era. (will post a picture shortly). - Service Book. this one is Print #: 335/84 - Owner’s Manual. this one is Print #: 345/85 - Sales & Service Organisation Book 1985. this one is Print #: 337/85 - Ferrari Warranty Card - Lubricant Chart (Agip). this one is Print #: 297/84 - Lubricants Comparison Chart. this one is Print #: 296/83 Image Unavailable, Please Login

No the battery charger did not come with the GTO. It was a dealer supplied accessory and was available until a few years ago, some dealers may even have old stock. But only the early versions have the 288GTO diagram in the booklet, later versions skipped that generation of cars, and only showed diagrams of much later models.
I have not found many official sales brochures relating to the 288GTO, probably because the cars were sold by invite only? This is one brochure I have found referred to as "Novelties", from 1984 Covers the 288 GTO launch at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1984 – Print #: 325/84 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The final item I can think of, is the Ferrari 288 GTO original 1984 Press Information Pack with Photos – Print #: 305/84 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well folks, that wraps it up from me on the 288GTO, I am sure there are many more things to learn, and I look forward to many contributions and corrections. I will give it a few days, so we can digest all this information on the 288GTO, before I start the next icon.....The Ferrari F40 Thanks everyone for your kind messages of thanks and appreciation, as much as this turned out to be a lot more work than I initially thought, it has been a pleasure to share it all, and put everything in one accessible place for all to reference. cheers Mark
Very kindly, Joe Sackey has provided me with the original phots used for his 288GTO book from many years ago. You can see from these photos what an original 288GTO tool kit looks like, it is identical to all the info I have provided above. If you zoom into the photo of the tool roll with the wrenches, you can even see the "odd one out" wrench that I highlighted earlier in this thread. Thank you Joe, greatly appreciated as always. Just sharing. I have this folder, created at the time by the Swiss distributor. I guess more distributor items should be around. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That folder wasn't created by the Swiss distributor. It was created by the Swiss magazine publishers of "Hors Ligne", a special magazine of quality leisure. Sort of a lifestyle magazine focussing on private and biz jets, first class food, expensive hotels and travels, Ferraris and other sportscars. Some of the people that produced "Hors Ligne" magazine were also involved with Autodiffusion SA in Meyrin (Geneva), Switzerland, the then Ferrari importer. And no, "Hors Ligne" has zero to do with horses, it is a French word that basically translates into "Nothing ordinary" or "Unique". Here's the cover. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you Mark for your detailed efforts in detailing the 288 GTO accesories & toolkit details. Allow me to post a 288 GTO which is quite complete by now. Image Unavailable, Please Login I cannot only testify to Mark's knowledge in this field which is as good as you can find. When you consider the difficulty of sourcing (once you know) and add the requirement that (a) you want to complete your accessories with as high-quality parts as is achieveable and (b) top it with competitive pricing, Mark is your man. Needless to say that the toolbox reference were the pictures from Joe Sackey's book of that model.
I have had this toolkit for years. It is made out of leather and embossed with GTO. The source it came from lead me to believe no reason this is not original. wow that is stunning, thanks for sharing. The tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, tow hook, pliers) are all 100% correct, they match everything discussed in the previous posts, all the way down to the "odd one out" wrench; And the black writing on the pliers. The condition looks superb, as good as the day they were made. The logo and style of the pouch: I have never seen used on a standard original 288 GTO tool roll before, but that's not to say its not original - as I have said with Ferrari before: don't rule anything out, and we learn new stuff everyday! The GTO logo is embossed in the correct style and font. The tool roll looks to be actual leather rather than the standard vinylette used on all the tool rolls I have seen from the period - can you confirm if it is actual leather? The stitching, finish, edging is all different from a standard tool roll. The chrome popper/studs to close it, are hidden and enclosed, so the heads don't show when the roll is closed - again all different. Given the car was so special, as were many of the first owners, perhaps it was a special request or commission. Is there a Schedoni marking anywhere? Or maybe the standard roll got damaged and this was commissioned and made by a very talented trimmer? How long have you had it, any history of it in relation to a GTO? thanks again for sharing with all of us, very beautiful item and certainly nothing I have ever seen before. This is the beauty and power of a thread like this! cheers Mark
also just noticed the number of pockets is different from standard, you have one extra - your tool roll has, 4+8+4 versus the standard 4+8+3. Standard is 4 x for the screw drivers, 8 x for the wrenches and 3 x for the tow hook/or window crank, the pliers and sparkplugs/or ratchet. Do you have the accompanying jack bag, is it in the same style? thanks Mark
That is fascinating. I agree with you, Mark. Maybe it was an early prototype made by the supplier for Ferrari, and they ended-up including it in the car. If we knew what car it originally came with, tact may reveal a lot.
Just to round off the 288GTO, here are some of the workshop manuals I have, I am sure there are others. I will move on to the F40 later. Cheers Mark Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
