He explained that he had problems shifting into 4th. I was shocked when he sent me the pictures. I've never seen hydraulic oil in this condition. He said that the Ferrari dealership did a full maintenance recently. Looks like chocolate milk! LOL
Is this dirty old oil or more serious underlying problems?

Maybe a result of mixing atf with chf fluid that someone else put in .. never saw something like that

Or a crazy thought someone ( hoping not) put coolant in there thinking it was the coolant reservoir??

That has to be a mixture of two different kinds of fluid, or really really old fluid. I’ve never seen atf or hydraulic fluid that color. If a Ferrari dealer just did a full service, I’d send them the pictures and ask what they did, or didn’t do. I’d be really upset with them.

A F1 pump problem wouldn’t cause the fluid color to change like that.

Even old fluid doesn't get this color. Agreed with all above that someone mixed two different fluids. I would send a sample out immediately to determine what it is. And would not drive this car until the entire system was flushed out and the correct fluid added.

Is there enough fluid to get a sample , put in a small test tube and let it settle out to see what u get. Will show if water in it or if emulsified.

    oh wow. that's shocking.

definitely have your friend pull some fluid out with a syringe (10-20mL should be plenty) and then damn skippy I'd at least send the photos to the dealer, if not the whole car, and ask WTF they're doing over there...

hopefully nothing serious resulted, and if so, the dealership eats the cost.

I have never heard of a heat exchanger failing on a 430, but it wouldn't hurt to check the color of the coolant in the overflow tank.

I'll see if he cares enough to send a sample to Blackstone. I'm curious what the results would be.

Flea, did your friend ever figure out what’s going on with the F1 fluid? I’m curious.

He reached out to Ferrari SF and they gave him the usual response that a car dealer gives you. Didn't even offer to change it out. He guessing it old oil....he's getting it changed out.

Any update on this? What was wrong with the fluid? Did it all flush out easily?
