Hi I notes a leak coming from the water pump, I removed the panel and found the coolant is coming from the back of the water pump assembly, I see green coolant on the top of the engine and drips in the front of the pump. could it be happening from the thermostat or a gasket? Any suggestion?
    thanks.

Your heat exchanger is back there, the thermostat is in the front, just right to your arrow.

How hard is it to remove it? Should i check where the leak is coming from with a scope camera or for sure thats the problem? Is a comune problem this?

First thing is to check your coolant reservoir to see if you see any oil residue in your coolant. If so, stop driving immediately. Then you can further your investigation into the leak.

Judging by the pic of the engine on a pallet I suspect he stopped driving the car already.

Definitely use whatever method to look under the intake plenum .. there is a few clamps , a water temp sensor etc that can be causing the leak .. just try to wipe everything off and then see where it is coming from

Look at a parts diagram to see all the different clamps , parts that are under there to see what to look for ..if that helps

Also as mentioned above , a freq problem is the heat exchange goes and the gearbox oil mixes with the antifreeze .. that will be shown in more so in the gearbox oil but also can see that in the coolant reservoir. When the exchange goes ..it goes internally so no leak outside of it ..so even if you have one it doesn't mean you have the other

Start by look where it is coming from ..use your endoscope and little mirrors etc

Historically one of the first visible symptoms of a failing heat exchanger is coolant on the floor. Happened to several on this forum and is usually their first sign that something is wrong.

That is usually causes by overflow from the gearbox or overflow from coolant reservoir due to coolant mixture causing pressure overflow iirc

But OP should check as you said but also not jump to that conclusion until he does a good visual, checks gear oil etc as mentioned above

But the telltale sign is the oil in the gearbox if an exchange fails ..the pressure of the coolant pushes it's way into the gearbox oil

Look like it is coming from the rubber sleeve on the end of the heat exchanger ..it could be as simple as the clamp around that rubber sleeve is not tight

Like all leaks sometimes what you see may not be it since it travels but it does sure look like that from you pics

I attached a pic to show what I referring to Image Unavailable, Please Login

I would say 30 mins is enough but remember heat plays a factor here so if you don't see anything for 30 mins I would then drive it up to temp and also look ..

I would say after one "hot" drive and no leaks you should be fine

    Glad you found the issue

Trying to do it between work and free time. I m continuing to look at the slow leak. I tide up the boot in the back of the heat exchanger and put 5 pounds od pressure over night. I still see a drop of coolant coming from the boot at the and of the heat exchanger. My son has a small arm Will try to tide it whit a 10m and see if the leak disappear.

Did he over tide it? Now we are in the process to remove it. Any advice ?

Not sure what happened there ..could be the rubber has a split in it. At this point need remove and check both the rubber and the mating surfaces ( heat exchange lip)
