Maybe the levers to open the rear hatch and fuel cap are also hard to find, I noticed that #088 (for sale in Brummen) doesn’t have them, see photo below of the red car. On the other photo (of #1242, also for sale in Brummen) you can see the correct levers. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Marc, While I admire your dedication to the model and the brand. Getting between two large German conglomerates isn’t going to happen for parts that supply maybe 3,500 cars total of all models. There is a way to do however, but it requires a lot of luck, and perseverance. I was able to something similar in securing the proper female wire fixtures for the fuse boxes on Mondial, which no one at Ferrari was able to get.
OK---Listen--- Any chain is as strong as its weakest link. IMPO---the place to focus on is exactly there: e.g. These guys do it all---including new parts---yet thrive on a LOT fewer number of Mercs than the approx. 3500 Masers in question: https://www.woerle-fahrzeugtechnik.com/en/content/133/96/restoration/comfort-hydraulics Imagine what they can offer for our collective patronage! Just my 2 cents, as always!
Agree that would be going to an aftermarket rebuilder, which is easier than the OEM. There are a companies in the USA that do it as well. When I begin to address my hydraulic system, I plan to work with a friend in the aviation industry, I’ll let everyone know if we have success.
"An honest car just out of long term ownership ready for straightforward recommissioning. Euro rear bumper conversion". I'd go for it.
I do not have a hi-res, nor coloured wiring diagram however.. I was able to make a decent scan of the manual and then for $20 Cdn. I had it print enlarged to a 4 foot x 3 foot poster at Staples (office supplies) here in Toronto. I then had that laminated (included in the cost) for wall hanging in the garage when I was wrestling with the headlight wiring. Not perfect..but made it possible to trace individual wires... I then added codes myself.... Numbers, dots, lines, etc to "find" the matching other ends. I'll see if I can find the source file this weekend. Most was usable (if not perfectly legible) once I familiarized myself with the print font, and followed the breadcrumb trail.. like a child's puzzle of "how does the bunny find the carrot patch".... or is that "how does the devil find its Trident"
Hello Richard.... Agree wholeheartedly !!! When I got my Khamsin in 2002, I had the electrical diagram enlarged for ease of reading... I didn't have mine laminated, but it still made working on the electrics a bit easier... Mike
The levers are From Fiat X1/9, the frame made in plastic is the problem, it is available in cast alluminium instead of plastic. Search for Fiat X1/9 Greetings Achim
Hello Ivan, I made wiring diagrams with original colours, separated in several fuse circuits, I allready tried to upload the in this chat, but the files are too big. I can try to send them to you per Mail, and you can add them to the Khamsin files. At my car I made some modifications, I can also send this files. One is for example to replace the Diode of the 2 radiator fans with relais. Another is to get rid of all the USA stuff in the electrics ( sorry). I will try to send you now. Gretings Achim
Ivan, please let me know, if you got the files. Your webpage helped me a lot for my Khamsin restoration... So may be you can add them and these files can be useful to others. They should be correct, because I studied, understood and replaced all cables in my car in original colours > everything works. Fuse list: EXCEl file: As you know I made a few modifications: see all written in red Achim
Accurate? ..or do you mean legible? The diagram(s) are accurate, meaning they show correct circuiting, wire colors, connectivity, etc... and for this it is very helpful. Just by following what the diagram shows, and tracing colors, and wires out "by hand" I have (with expert help from Ivan, thank you very much) solved 99% of my K's electrical issues - (which were due in equal parts to prior owner mistakes and poor ground connections). My personal issue with the diagram - and agreement that a clearly legible, large format version would be extremely useful to all owners - is the wire color codes at each wire aren't always reliably legible... particularly the tiny letters that are similar.. Combine Khamsin and Bora parts.. Parts made of plastic which self-destructs over time. Usable leftovers are being sourced from a diminishing supply of NOS or salvaged from wrecks; - The plastic Vitaloni switch cluster, as mentioned already. Just the plastic stalk bases and integral stalks would be enough to resurrect a number of Vitalonis. - Seat back lever knobs have been requested. - Fuse box covers are sought after. - The plastic “pocket” for the exterior door handle (Alfa or Fiat interchange?). - Front headlight surrounds. Other materials that deteriorate are fabrics: - OEM carpets with correct weave, edge bind, and color. - "Mousehair" fabric covering? - The vinyl padding for hood or wheel well panels…? Then come the rubber parts which also deteriorate: - The firewall boot for the steering shaft doesn't even have a part number in the Catalog. - Get Pirelli to produce a run of P4000s.. Unique hardware items that get switched with aftermarket parts over time: - Chrome finger-knurled or allen head screws for instrument panels. - Correct wheel alignment shims. - OEM wiper blade arms.. Grazie, - Art

Thanks to Achim a more user friendly copy of the Khamsin wiring diagram (original and his modifications) has been uploaded to my website and can be found here: http://thecarnut.com/Manuals/Khamsin_wiring_diagram.pdf The images in this PDF are high resolution but you will need to zoom in. Included are his notes both in German and "Google translated English". Again, thank you Achim for providing this very useful information. Ivan
I'm sure that's true. Maybe you can share your knowledge and offer a list of what parts are *not* available?
A phenomenal effort, very well done. Grazie, Achim! PS - Fuse 12 includes Directionals and Hazard lights. Fuse 13 includes Power Antenna motor
