Hardly anything new. The Mission Vission nonsense would be gone by the time the season starts therefore the drivers overalls will probably spot an empty space in the middle.

The Brawn "miracle" was the result of many factors, including a new set of rules that everybody got wrong, Honda throwing a lot of money in that car because they sucked and knew that the rule change was their better chance, and last but not least, the FIA allowing them the double deck diffuser, that was illegal for everybody except for the two manufacturers that were threatening to leave and other team that owed money to Bernie.

That's not going to happen this year, and much less to Ferrari, that right now is the pariah of F1. To make things worse, they can't threaten to go to Le Mans because they've already done it!

    Are you sure ?

Stefano Domeniceli, President and CEO of Formula1 Group is ... ex-Ferrari

Ross Brawn, Managing Director and Technical Director of Formula 1 Group is ... ex-Ferrari

Jean Todt, President of the FIA is also ... ex-Ferrari

I can't remember a time when a team had more political weight in F1 than Ferrari now!

Le Mans from 2023 may be extremely attractive. Imagine that the ACO and Imsa manage to agree about the rules, the formula one is at risk of losing a good part of its interest.
With help of another three years of Mercedes dominance.

Are you kidding?! 3 guys (4 if you include Tombazis) that were basically discarded by Ferrari and you expect them to side with Ferrari? The evidence to the contrary is as clear as the domination by Mercedes. Not even a hint of a reaction—just rulings and decisions against Ferrari and the others—unlike the raft of rule changes the FIA and Bernie made to stop Ferrari in the Schumi era.

What do you think the other teams are doing? The days of the Newey or Gordon Murray one-man show is over.

Also, again, they’re not all Italian just like all the other teams are not homogeneously a single nationality or ethnicity. And 8 of those other teams are no better than Ferrari in that they’ve not won a championship in 7 years.

    So true.
Mercedes began the hybrid era in 2014 with a power unit 100hp more powerful than the others and everyone agreed with that.
Plus a full year of engine freezing.
Dominicali and Montezemolo are largely responsible for that but Mercedes was also free to do what they wanted the years before.

Constant engine checks, castrated power, car freeze, budget limit and many things they were against of but had to budge. Meanwhile Mercedes can use their tricky steering and Red Bull got engine rules a la carte just because they're too proud to buy from Renault.

If Ferrari has power, they're not using it.

+1 I remember many people crying when Todt became head honcho of the FIA...he was for sure going to ensure Ferrari domination.

They said the same when Brawn was given his post.

They went for the trifecta when Tombazis became involved as head of tech for the FIA.

Lot of good it did Ferrari.

And now with Domenicalli people are still saying Ferrari has loads of political pull?

Todt - effectively forced out by Montezemelo

Brawn - effectively forced out by Montezemelo

    Tombazis - sacked (twice!)

    Domenicalli - sacked

Jean Todt is extremely tenacious and vindictive.

Leo turrini, italian journalist close to Ferrari for a long time called him "il pinguino francese ".
    ,the French penguin .
He also said he was as sympathetic as a stomach cramp.
But in the end he admitted that he was above all a fantastic team manager.

Makes zilch difference. The Regs were virtually set in stone to Mercedes advantage in '14.

I don't think Ferrari is hopeless as they were sometime during the 90s. Sainz is going to the most famous team in the sport, and arguably the most important. Whether it will pay off with a champinoship opportunity or not is another thing, but moving to Ferrari in the modern era definitely can't be put down under "bad moves".

He has immense opportunity to make loads of cash, just by being a Ferrari F1 driver.

You just have to look at Vettel and Alonso, both ex World Champions, who drove for Ferrari in recent years and achieved hardly anything there.

Ferrari is living on past glory, and is hardly a top team now. They finished 6th last year !!!

Now, if money is the only concern, that's different ...

The chances of finding an equivalent to Michael Schumacher is not going to happen.

Ferrari need to improve their car and management approach upto Tier 2, and maybe Charles can start to deliver some regular podiums.

Failing that perhaps Max will join the Scuderia once he's completely bored of squeezing the pips out of the wonky Red Bull.

"The chances of finding an equivalent to Michael Schumacher is not going to happen."

Schumacher was awesome. However, one can't forget the almost exclusive tyre deal that Ferrari had with Bridgestone. They were 100% in Ferrari's pocket in the glory years 2000-2004.

    Agree 100% on Michael !

The "bespoke" Bridgestones were not actually used until 2001. That's what made 1999 and 2000 even more remarkable. Shame about the broken leg !
And there were tight battles with McLaren before the FIA intervened at the end of '04 with sudden tyre regs change, to stop Michael / Ferrari success.

By contrast not a peep of significant FIA intervention since 2014.
