Eric- Mine is fairly plain Jane, but has a few goodies added.
I would agree with that. Terry's brakes don't receive the glory they deserve - to think about those in addition to the rest of the unicorn goods...
Terry it’s... The color combo The wheels The carbon The stitching The carbon steering wheel The brakes The yellow SA tach absolutely kills me in the best way..... oh and p.s. I bet your car is documented maintenance wise like it was owned by pilot *wink* or surgeon! p.p.s we should have a “beauty contest” for 575’s I nominate yours and joes in the top 10 along with @p1turbo ... who else is in the top 10... p.p. p.s I don’t know if I ever shared it but a lifetime ago I used to kick around in piper tomahawks and cherokees....you had the hot seat!
Eric- I was a WSO (navigator), and not a pilot, even though I got plenty of stick time. If 135171 was going to be in a beauty contest, she would need her nose painted, for sure.
Color choice/preference is personal. However, buying a Ferrari for the first time can be an emotional and fun experience for most. I know it was for me. Red looms large in Ferrari's brand and heritage. That's why it also plays a big part in first-time buyers' decision making process. Other colors may look better, but for most first-time buyers a Red Ferrari is something special and has a lot of pull on their senses and sensibilities.
yes and also no...this was probably not a first time buyer. https://www.businessinsider.com/1962-ferrari-250-gto-breaks-record-selling-for-484-million-2018-8?r=US&IR=T
Darius, I think the record was WeatherTech founder/CEO David MacNeil's $70MM+ purchase of a silver '63 250 GTO. Who says a Ferrari has to be Rossa Corsa to bring mega bux? https://journal.classiccars.com/2019/07/25/mcneil-soars-in-collector-ratings-after-buying-ferrari-250-gto/
Darius- That GTO was rebodied by Ferrari in the 64 style to make it look more like a 250 LM. Not my first choice of GTOs.
Following on Dave's post above, pictures of Richard Welkowitz and David Lee Ferrari collections. The '99 red/tan 550 with 567 miles was auctioned last July by Mecum. Very lightly optioned if at all, needing major service and airbag leather repair. Mecum's estimate was $100k-$125k. Hammered at $198k Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anyone know anything about this car? https://www.autogallerychicago.com/inventory/view/13594224/2004-Ferrari-575M-Maranello-2dr-Cpe/
It is this car commented historically by Terry. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/142260998/ My tracking spreadsheet shows it was only bid up to $56 on ebay (the one time I watched it) and that current pricing on the AutoGallery website is a reduction from the historical $89k number. At this price with the color combo, low miles, daytonas, shields, and the late build with the steering upgrades, I'm not sure what there is to not like on this one? I didn't do a VIN search.
Maybe the serial number in that historical quote was taken down accidentally but they are shown as the same 137029. They both have black Daytona’s and yellow calipers. The shields on the old one could be post applied not embossed?
@cubbyman60 i guess the real question is...”what is not to like” about that AutoGallery 575 at $85k? I still didn’t do a full vin search. If you are hunting it would be interesting to hear here what the dealer shares when you call.
The LA "deer damaged" black on black 575 finished another no reserve auction this weekend. The last no reserve auction must have had the buyer flake at the unusually high end bid $85,900 (given where it had been listed as a classified ad ). This result at $72,100 seemed reasonable? Would love to hear from the buyer here..... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Ferrari-575-Carbon-Fiber/233905199190?hash=item3675d61856:g:2FoAAOSwSUBgJFYl As a reminder.... This was the odd ending auction.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Ferrari-575-Carbon-Fiber/233891576687?pageci=941f7b7a-dab7-4ed1-af66-a3da11043882 2002 575M with 46k miles and deer related damage on the car fax fixed at some point. +) zffbv55a220129726 +) 129726 +) Nero over Nero; +) race seats +) carbon trim package +) leather parcel area +) paint work recently done NOTE TITLE +) ONLY 2 FOBS +) partial deferred maintenance UNUSUAL -- the owner of that car had posted a classified ad here on the forum and there was some commentary but no follow up by him and then I didn't know we did that here but I think the ad was actually removed. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/no-reserve-2002-ferrari-575-maranello.636846/#post-147737010
Are you referring to post 626. That is A. nurburgring. The one listed for sale is grigio, that's why I'm confused. Also, is that car not a US car? What do you think. Thanks.
Can this be true? Seems way too low for low mileage 1 of 559 Superamerica with Classiche documentation. So much for you can't get a super deal on BaT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-ferrari-575-superamerica-6-3/
I had watched the last time it was recently at auction (I didn’t make a comment here as I’m not following that higher segment) and someone made a comment last time that the car had been on offer in LA and if I recall from memory the comment was something like...”no one had offered more than $150”.....I’d have to go back and read the comments. The roof is damaged and who knows if the guy that leased it for all those miles if he even once changed the oil.
Carfax shows car was regularly serviced at Ferrari Maserati of Long Island and Ferrari of Palm Beach. The Classiche documentation should also be worth something as far as originality and condition are concerned. Either there is some story or someone got a fantastic deal. I'm kinda thinking it is the former as cars like this don't go unnoticed with so much exposure for so long.
Good point. Hopefully he did at least oil changes. I didn’t notice any documents last time and I didn’t watch it this 2nd time at all. I had assumed since it was a lease he wasn’t doing any maintenance or perhaps just the bare minimum.
