Agree - and most of these characters have been sharpening their axes ever since. As for re-structuring the chassis department, for me its sounds a disaster and will end up as a game of musical chairs. What is Binotto thinking of, to work it needs a great leader of talent. Tony
Yep, though I believe the bespoke tyres only where from 2002 onwards (2001 Bridgestone still had Mclaren). And lets not forget that Bridgestone only made tyres for 1 top team, Michelin supplied the majority of the grid including 2 top teams, that's a whole lot of extra data, and that helped them: Remember the stepped tyres for the 2003 season that made them wider than allowed? Or 2004 onwards the ultra lightweight tyres (didn't work so well for the Indy GP 2005 mind you). Bridgestone supplied Ferrari and some back markers...what do people expect, Bridgestone to not make tyres for Ferrari but take Minardi's notes instead? Michelin took their partnership with Mclaren VERY serious as well.
They left Ferrari in the beginning of the season and Ferrari removed the decal on the car and put red tape of their sponsor name on their shirts/polo's/jackets BUT Weichai Power are back with Ferrari in 2021. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Poorly written rule on tread width not sidewall width; exploited as F1 requires. Intermediates have similar "problems" after they become slicks. But the rules are the same for everyone, so are the dates, tracks, and weather..........
All true, but the argument I think is that if it wasn't for the Bridgestones, Ferrari wouldn't have won titles...as if the Bridgestones where some sort of magic tyre. Michelin build some very good tyres, including the very lightweight ones.
The 2005 defeat was mainly caused by the Bridgestone tyres. They were unable to last a complete GP ( rules). The FIA decided this stupid rule because they desperately wanted to stop Ferrari dominance and FIA was well aware of the Michelin strength ( longevity).
Ferrari needs a rebuild from the ground up. Firing the team boss every few years accomplishes next to nothing. It seems as if they mess up the most basic assignments. Not even talking about the car and engineering. But the strategies are absolutely hillarious week in week out. Vettel lost a full head of hair having to think for the team, while driving the freakin races. It's a joke. Not sure if it's nepotism, incompetence, or just blindness.
Binotto has been specific about this year. They will offer this updated car but focus intense on 22. We should hope for some improvement and not forget the true focus Ferrari have expressed for 22.
Did this argument arise from the same people who originated the "Lewis Hamilton is an Idiot" thread ? It is worth just about as much. Michael, Ross, and others deserve more credit than the tires.
No idea where the argument came from, but for sure Michael/Ross/Byrne deserve the vast majority of credit.
If they can get the power back, Ferrari should have a pretty good chance to at least get in the top 3 again. With Charles at the wheel and power, I think they can do really well.
only on a few select tracks, really. The car and it's concept as a whole is flawed. We saw that in 2019 even with a significant power advantage, it couldn't hack it. Going for a low downforce concept was the dumbest move they made. With the limited upgrades allowed, that'll sting them for this year once again. Had Ferrari used the 2019 engine in a development of the 2018 car they probably would have won the titles. For this year, even if their engine is good, Mercedes, Red Bull, Aston and likely Mclaren will be ahead of them.
Rumors are circulating (in Italian) that Binotto is out of the Scuderia Ferrari. Nothing confirmed yet from Ferrari.
Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date Translation-->On the rumors that are circulating regarding a dismissal of Binotto, at least from what I understand it seems impossible that it can happen now, or at least until the 2022 car which must be at least competitive, unless the season is extremely disappointing. also He basically said that Binotto is already fired, per his sources. His source is probably Marc Gene. They are now waiting for how the new car will perform. If car will be good, they say their goodbye to Binotto in nice way, if won't they say their goodbye in a bad wa
+1 Makes no sense to “fire” him one week after team launch and just weeks before the start of the season. This story seems rooted in the fact that he’ll miss some races this year to remain at HQ to ensure progress on the ‘22 car with Mekies acting TP; he’s not heading the LMH project, etc. He seems to have been relieved of some responsibilities in the sense that it will allow him focus on managing the organization and for sure he’s being evaluated for his leadership. Pretty sure if the conclusion is he’s not up to it he’ll return to his previous role and a new TP will be nominated.
