Maybe Mr. Manzoni was taking his VS inspiration from this earlier 'targa' top Ferrari Daytona which also features the 'Giant swaybar' across the hood.

Nice find ! that one probably also was the inspiration for the horizontal optional stripe offered on the tdf

The yellow stripe livery idea came along more than a decade before the Daytona model.

AFAIK there will be a big hot V12 "down there" below this vent. You or me missing something here?

I was talking about the rear as the Front venting hole purpose is obvious: the rear ones purpose isn't! ;)

    Ciao

    A quiproquo* is always hilarious

*French word for a situation of two people talking about something during a certain time before realising they are talking about two completely different things. That was a perfect exemple.:D:D

Personally, having seen it, I like the coupe better than the Targa. There are some nice lines there and it have elements of the 599XX.

I still choose the Targa...of course. Did anyone get both???

    Congratulations on the targa!!

I understood that Ferrari proposed only one car per buying, and that it was not possible to have both coupé and targa.

I am beginning to really believe the previous speculation that there is an electric motor and battery back there. It would explain why the glass is gone (because the purpose of this car is not to highlight the electrics at the expense of the V12 under the front bonnet) and why there are vents and why there only is a targa and not a folding roof for the open air version because there isn't space for it.

Great observation. The 812 was referenced by Manzoni as a kind of inspired modern Daytona. This 812 VS could very well be called ‘Daytona’.

there is a mistery under that bonnet, close to the right rear arch. Once I supposed an exhaust gas driven turbine that powered a small electric engine in the gearbox, or even a mechanical turbo compund (I eved did a draw of the possible layout): only fantasy, very likely, but let's see.

Maybe who saw the car can tell what there is down there: maybe there only the eight speed gearbox and the e-diff radiators, who knows.

    ciao

Both are stunning in my opinion. No one gets both, prohibited by Ferrari. Apparently lots of clients asking for it

Ferrari have had the V12 hybrid on the drawing board for over x10 years...whether it is showcased on this GTO or not...it’s a matter of time before they have to.

I still think routing exhaust high up and away from the electrical batteries and motors would also make sense, you would need lots of cooling on that rear end zone then...speculation, but makes sense, can’t wait for the reveal

I guess it doesn’t depend on where the engine is, whether it’s front or rear.

"Used in the french language" If you prefer... I won't make extensive semantics research before a post on Fchat
