Agree, I've been saying that for years (with EV becoming more and more mainstream and hybrid adoption a question mark)
It's their own money. Ferrari won't give them an engine. Nor will Mercedes so long they have their own works team. Renault...still question marks about the engine itself.

I really don't see the problem.

There is no problem, but making their own engine won't give them more credibility, nor give them an advantage.

In a positive note - RedBull with their own power will not be so negative in the press about their engine supplier :)

    Here's some positives:
1- Season testing is close & races will start back up - hopefully with some in person fans as well
2- New season means new battles between teammates - always interesting to see how that goes
3- Maybe new tires change the balance of power- maybe engine improvements change things
4- Maybe Seb goes with that balding look
5- Maybe Lewis doesn't break MSC's record of 7, I'd love for MSC to hold onto one record
6- Maybe Ferrari surprise and grab 1/2 in the championship team points
    7- Maybe Abu Daubi matters

Technically, it is already a shared record (tie); although Michael was first.

Statistically, even with the same number of titles (7 each), Hamilton has clearly already overtaken Schumacher's record.

95 GP wins for the Brit, against 91 for the German; 165 podiums against 155; 98 poles instead of 68.

And all this in 41 less races. Hamilton percentage of wins is 35.71%, but only 29.64% for Schumacher.

I insist on statistically: I don't want to enter in sterile discussions about who's great, who's the GOAT since I don't entertain these notions.

So far Ferrari has just as many 2021 points as Mercedes! Yeah baby . . . . .

He got a perma-ban from the F1 section. It was mostly having to do with his opinions of Lewis Hamilton. He said most of them were based on personal interaction with Hammy. I guess he crossed a line somewhere. Still, he had a lot of spot-on comments based on experience of F1 in general. He was fun.

Peter was a fun, very knowledgeable, polite, always backing up his opinions with facts (unlike many around here), and there was no reason to ban him, except for the fact that he desagreed with some moderators.

He was spot on indeed! Some of us here are still in regular contact with him, he's doing well.

I had some disagreements on opinion with him several times over the years but we still got on great.

Does that include Michael's time with Mercedes? If so, then maybe it comes back his way if Hamilton races on with another team that doesn't dominate like Michael did?
Either way, if you look at the total championships on it's own and bring up the record book, MSC is still tied. Would love to see that remain true.

It was never going to be a surprise in that Mercedes with self-confessed bridesmaid Bottas.

Would have been different with Ricciardo alongside.
