You guys inspired me when you posted yours the other day so I got the big dog out this morning. 61 years old this year. Considering what the collectors have done to this I really should sell it but I just can't.

Dave, I'd keep it and enjoy wearing it until the end and let the heirs figure out what to do!! Just saying....

That is what I'm thinking. Just because prices have risen to the stratosphere doesn't mean I have to get rid of it, right? Thankfully we really don't need the cash, we've figured out how to pay her medical bills, so what the heck why not enjoy it?

Heck Pap if I had to buy it at today's prices I couldn't afford it either! If you remember I posted it for sale here about 18 months ago for $22k.

To give you an idea how insane it has gotten here are 2 examples. Both of these are one year newer than mine which makes them worth less; mine is the first year made. The first one has a replacement insert like mine, the second has an original insert.

Dave, that's a beauty. I just received this today in the mail. A 1985, 16750. A birth year watch to myself, just in time for my 36th this weekend. So far I dig it!

Cheers heaps Dave, I appreciate it. :)

I don't remember seeing it for sale here 18 months ago, the last 3 years has been a blur for me as I was working 6 days a week, 14 hr days lol.

So not much got done on the social aspect of my life during that time, so I was pretty quiet here on the forum.

They are all beautiful mate, thanks for sharing and definitely enjoy wearing that beauty as much as you possibly can.

Take care and talk soon legend. :)

Very nice man, congrats! Arrived at the right time. :p

I am wanting to get a birth year Rolex for myself one day, just not sure which 1980 model Rolex to get that suits my bigfoot sized wrist. :D

Lovely watch mate, can you please explain the short run of these watches? Which model is it exactly and why only an 8 year run? :)

The 114060 is the no-date Submariner. Rolex has changed this watch around to include a larger case which changed the proportions of the case, lugs, and Cerachrom bezel along with slight tweaks to the bracelet. The most substantial change was replacing the calibre 3130 movement with the new calibre 3230 (never used in a production watch before). Obsessive aficionados love the details of this stuff!

Thanks heaps mate, I appreciate the reply. :)

I was thinking of the no date, but wasn't sure about the rest of it.

Definitely sounds like a great watch man!! Thanks again. :)

Not at all. super comfortable piece. One of my favorites although in the world of Patek resale and accesiblity wise its a dog - but I love it. That and the 5522.

Thanks. I like the 5524G, its an all around watch, not to sure about the R. Hard to gauge watches these days, near impossible to try them on in-person, so appreciate the feedback.
