The highest risk for engine failure on US fighter planes in World War 2 was in the hours after an engine service! Anytime you do a repair there is the risk that in performing that repair you introduce damage that has adverse outcomes. Nobody is as attentive on a car as the owner! :)

    Yes the car was amazing.

Unfortunately the car was already very much ablaze when I stopped (10 seconds after the fire breaking out). No fire extinguisher could have helped...

Nothing diagnosed, as the car was burnt to a crisp. Insurance paid the car in full, so I doubt it is even being investigated further.

From what everyone said - it must have been fuel line related! Keep these things in check boys & girls and turn the car off and have it towed if you smell unburnt fuel!

Both lovely cars. Keep fuel pumps in check and enjoy in good health mate!

It was indeed. Just testing the waters...

The car was phenomenal in every way. Big surprise, would never have expected it. Shocked this caliber of dealer didn't notice it in the Ferrari Premium Program service... This wasn't just ANY dealer, it was THE dealer...

Still shocked at how they failed to see this coming. I mean the car was awarded with the Premium Program, that addresses exactly these kinds of issues. All rubber lines and hoses etc. get replaced to prevent potential failure due to porosity.

This is THE place in Switzerland btw... I know people that fly their cars into our country just to have these guys maintain them...

Haven't heard anything yet and I presume that they will never be able to find out. But going by what I read here on fchat I think it was fuel lines/pumps. These are known issues and the dealership should have checked. Will have to check again what exactly they replaced and will keep everyone posted!

Do you know how many miles since the car was serviced?

This is very sad. A perfect specimen! Hopefully your friend can find a worthy replacement.

The gearbox is the same as in the F1:s.
