The lease just ended on my 2018 Ferrari 488 GTB and I want to get another car. I'm thinking either the new Portofino M that now has 612 HP (versus 591 prev model) or the F8 Spider. Anyone have thoughts on viewpoints on this? If you had to decide between only these 2 models, which would you choose?

F8 is going to be more fun and dynamic, similar to your 488. That would be my pick between the two.

Portofino only makes sense if you intend to daily drive and need a little more luggage space. I didn't find the base Portofino as exciting as a 488 or F8, as brilliant as it is. If you try one, or a California T, you can see how it is placed in the lineup to be softer and more compliant in ride.

Have you tried a V12 though?

If you don’t need back seats I would take the F8, but also seriously consider Huracan RWD Spider, 720S Spider. For me the the Huracan RWD wins for fun and games, 720 for engineering brilliance, F8 for somewhere in between. No wrong choice here.

If your looking for HP, why not just buy an 812 Superfast and be done with it , turn off the traction control and burn through some tires ! lol

    Thank you

F8 spider. Coming from 488 it’s familiar and more of the good stuff. The PM will be a great GT car and do everything well, just not as much.

    Forget those other brands.

812 is amazing but the price differential for the open top is staggering. I will not be without a convertible. Got a 360 to scratch the itch while my F8 is being built. The F8 is enough of a jump from my 488 spider to be worth it.

What will you do in the interim? And you will have to change your name. What sounds better JenniferF8 or JenniferPM? JennF8 or JennPm?

I would go F8. If you like front engined, consider the 812.

    F8!!!

Sorry but the Portofino design form is "thick" and bloated. Seems more Lexus or Maserati to me than Ferrari. As others have mentioned the 812 is a much better option if you want more HP and or front engine.

The F8 will be the last V8 powered Ferrari in a long line of classic Ferrari V8 mid engined cars. Like the California, the Portofino will depreciate far more rapidly whereas the F8 will likely be a collectors car in the future.

I was at factory and saw the next generation mule with its V6.....sounded like crap. As they used to say:

    "I could have had a V8!"

Got the F8 V8 while you can.
