Sorry if this is a dumb question. Assuming that there are no visual cues to suspension parts going bad, when is it a good time to replace major items to do a refresh? My indie mechanic just did a minor service and looked over everything and said all was good. On smooth roads, it’s smooth as glass. When the pavement gets dicey, the suspension almost feels arthritic and jarring. But I don’t have the benefit of knowing what the car was supposed to feel like when new. There may be nothing wrong at all. Just curious really. Thanks!
You can have wear in the upper and lower ball joints. Also the flamblocs can get a bit stiff if the grease gets a bit dry. Steering track rod ends wear, so jack car up and pull on the tyre at 3+9 o clock and see if any wear. You can take wheel off and check ball joints for movement.
I’ve got 14,200 miles on my F430 and everything is tight. I jacked up each corner and pulled and pushed at 3 and 9 o’clock. My car is also smooth on the smooth roads and jars on the rough. I think it just the sports car suspension. It will never ride like a Cadillac. Don’t want it to Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The flamblocs can become tight, so the arm movement is not as smooth. Its a matter of removing them , then strip and rebuild using some motorbike chain lub
