All, buying first Ferrari and have received some good help on Ferrari chat. Down to 2 cars: (1) 2018 488 Rosso corso/beige with 4K miles, 2 years of factory warranty extension, CPO, 3 owners, MSRP of $275k from a factory authorized Ferrari dealer. (2) 2017 488 blue Tour de France/beige with 2k miles, no warranty, not a CPO car, 1 owner, MSRP of $298k from a reputable national luxury car dealer. Price is the same for both - $240K, but the 2018 includes price of warranty. Both cars are great. Question - how important is CPO and warranty versus mileage and original MSRP?
It could be market/region dependent but of these two cars I'd choose the 2018 car because: 1) better to buy from Ferrari dealer with warranty and CPO, both for the history of the car and your personal "status" with Ferrari 2) mileage is low enough in both cases, 4K is not terribly high so that 2K does not have a clear advantage (specially if you intend to drive the car, today 4K is twice 2K but after another 5K you'd compare 7K to 9K) 3) original MSRP could be inflated by options that don't have much market value - you need to look at the options list on both cars to double check The only advantage for the 2017 car is 1 owner vs 3, but if the CPO car comes with a complete history that's not a real issue.
I would buy the red car with the warranty , hands down , reason # 1. Reason #2 it does establish you with the dealer. Best , Kirk.
This. It's wise to build a good relationship with the official dealer. And their service department too. You might need to use the warranty, who knows when.
I'd get the red car with warranty. Have you priced out Ferrari labor and parts?!? Yikes! I see 488's have held or are appreciating? My 2019 with a $310k sticker and 400 miles cost less that these...and it seems now with 4700 miles I could sell for what I paid or maybe a little more... I've noticed this on CarGuru's lately as well.... seems a lot of the exotic market price has gone up and/or held and not depreciated
^ Yeah it's a sellers market right now due to Covid price surges. These same cars should be ~$200-210k in a few months. If you plan to keep the car for 1-2 years, definitely get the red one with the Ferrari CPO warranty. If you plan to keep it a long time and drive it, I dont think it really matters.
I assume you have no color preferences between the two. Knowing only what you listed about the cars to me it would be a shame to take color choice #2 just because of the extended warranty.
