    Personally not a fan of shields on Ferrari's (even though I have them on my 360). I recalled a thread years ago of someone adding authentic embedded shields to the fenders on either a 512TR or TR at a body shop. Anyone know if this is the car?

    That’s right - I remember now. I looked for that thread as I recalled he had pics of the body work in progress to see if it was the same car.

    The ad on this one claims it was a factory OEM optional .

    Beautiful car, except for the non-original shields; and they were not a factory option at the time.

    It would take some pretty incredible work to stamp for the shield with the rolled edges. Looks factory for sure. I love the shields recessed
    like factory. Nice car.

    Actually the wheels are a true original and one of the rare factory options. I never liked them until I saw them on this car. The shields on the other hand would have been a nonstandard option, special on the car.

    Keep in mind you can order your Ferrari almost anyway you want it if you’re willing to pay (eg special exterior/interior colors).

    F40s had shields at the time period, so it’s possible the original owner request similar shields custom installed along with the optional modular wheels or did it aftermarket.

    Adding the embedded shields is not too hard and it’s been done by another forum member years ago who photo documented the process.

    this old chestnut..... :)

    my car has plastic shields. i bought it in rome and the dealer swears the car came to him like that when new - and i have heard similar stories from some japanese owners.
    likewise, my engine cover is body colored, and the dealer claims this was the way it came from the factory as well.

    we have argued these two issues on this site for the 16 years i have been on here, and i have owned that car for 18 years ! :)

    A series of fifteen cars were specially constructed for the Japanese importer Cornes & co.These were all finished in a deep metallic red, with Scuderia Ferrari shields on the front fenders and split rim road wheels. Information from Cavallino "Flat Twelve" number 4.

    Regarding my fender shields. I spoke with previous owner and He confirm that fender shields it's non facotry. He ask his friend to make it :)
